Feel like I am the only one who doesn’t give a shit about instate recruiting at all. Neither does Rhule. Sure Dean and the boys will keep asking about it though
I’m sure this staff has been a little confused by the media and fan base here.
“Wait, so they want us to compete and win on a national level but want us to recruit all the players from the state we feel aren’t quite up to that level.?”

Dean spent the first 20 minutes of today’s podcast crying about the state of the spring game. I’m not sure you could ever understand this place.

IDK. I thought it was a pretty obvious question to ask. We all thought it was great to see how Rhule and staff made in-state coaches feel welcome and paid attention to after they were apparently give the cold shoulder by previous staff/staffs. He placed a huge emphasis on in-state players in his first couple of classes. And now that we've gone back to (or have been forced to) offering very few in-state players, Rhule probably has to go about that tactfully.

That said, I thought Rhule gave a great answer. Basically, Nebraka is playing in the Power 2 now, and you can't afford to take a flyer on a freshman or sophomore with potential anymore. You need to see them prove it as upperclassmen when they're closer to what they're going to be. Like he said, "They need to help us beat Ohio State." Mid-major leagues like the Big 12 have to take those flyers.

Whether we like it or not, D2/FCS are going to be feeder programs for the P2. Kids from lower populated states are going to have to go to SDSU, NDSU, NIU, etc. Prove themselves with production and measurables and transfer in.

Nebraska Media would be the most frustrating media to deal with ever.

The expectations of an Alabama
The talent pool of Idaho
The media says, “We want to win, but only if you run the ball a lot, give kids from small town class D schools a chance, make sure everything is ran the same way it was in 1982 and answer 75 questions about blackshirts every July”
