Soccer Thread 2024

The first mistake was betting against MY Blues of London in a major final. Go Blues. Cole Palmer is the coldest man on this planet.

Nah, 2021 UCL final city was perfect. Yesterday was great because of the goals but 2021 was a special special performance.
Big question, can the Blues make the jump and truly contend for the Prem this upcoming season?

While I like where my LFC stands for a repeat, lot's of new pieces and moving parts yet to be figured out.

Arsenal are a bit of a conundrum...so much talent and the amazing ability to come up short at crucial times.
Arsenal are nothing to worry about. They might get Gyorkeres but they still won't win a trophy that matters.

I do think Chelsea can make a real run for the title. I'm not ready to say they'll win this season because I think Maresca would rather push for a UCL trophy. Chelsea is equipped though now with real squad depth to make a strong run in both Prem/UCL. Joao Pedro and Liam Delap are going to prove to be a huge boost for Palmer. Teams won't be able to zero in on him with 2-3 players marking him anymore. Nicolas Jackson was as passionate as anybody but thank god he won't be playing the 9 anymore.

Sidenote- Nobody is talking about the Enzo/Caicedo price tags anymore and that makes me just as happy.

Yeah, I bet! I think you are right about the players around Palmer. Should free him up a bit...will be interested to see how it plays out.

One of my favorite things about Palmer though is listening to his interviews. Great player...NOT the sharpest knife in the drawer.

after spending that much money over the past three years you would be suprised if they aren't.

I think the premier league title race will be very competitive this season, with Man City improving vastly, Liverpool looks scary once again, especially with the additions of Wirtz, Frimpong, and Kirkez. Chelsea finally have the squad they need to compete at the top levels again, and Arsenal looks good with Gyorkeres.

I expect Man United to have an equally terrible season this year as they did last season. I also think Spurs will improve as they brought in Thomas Frank and (will) make two good additions in Kudus and Gibbs-White
