Season preview mags

Everyone is picking Nebraska 5th or 6th, including me:

1. Illinois - (8-1)
2. Wisconsin - (7-2)
3. Cockeye - (6-3)
4. Minnesota (4-5)
5. Nebraska (3-6)
6. Purdue (2-7)
7, Northwestern (1-8)

Husker wins:
Colorado
Northern Illinois
Louisiana Tech
Purdue
Northwestern
Maryland

Huskers losses:
Minnesota
Michigan
Illinois
Wisconsin
Cockeye
Michigan State
What do people see in Illinois? I really don't see it at all. They are replacing their do it all RB, replacing 2 All-Conference members of their secondary and replacing their DC.

I think people are putting way too much stock into Fat Bert as a coach. Sure, he had success at Wisconsin. But so did everyone at Wisconsin under Alverez. As soon as he left, he got embarrassed in the SEC. And yes, he won last year. But Lovie left him a loaded roster.

Illinois won't be a pushover by any means, but I'd be very surprised if the look like what they did last year.

They literally have 4 future top 100 draft choices in their defensive front 7. I believe they are going to dictate terms with their defense against every opponent, including Penn State.

That's odd because all of the guys on Early Break on 93.7 the Ticket said they bought their Phil Steele mags at Barnes and Noble.
I guess I'll have to look into this. On Barnes and Noble's website it says the magazine is not in store and you have to order it.

For anyone that isn't familiar with Pick Six, here's last year's annual book from Brett. He had Nebraska finishing 2nd in the West. Our season preview is on pages 68 and 69 (nice).

He whiffed last year, but overall he does really great work. I already pre-ordered this year's copy. It's coming out in a couple days. Also, FWIW just based on his tweets the last five or so years, I think he really wants to see Nebraska do well again.
Brett seems like a good dude. He was down at Barry's (before the game, real tailgater) for the OU-DONU game this past season. He's usually on Sharp's show in the morning on 1620 on every Friday during the football season.

I agree that he seems deep down like a Nebraska fan and wants to see us do well.
