With locking Rhule in on a contract extension and seeing what we have on the roster so far I took a look at what we might need next year through recruiting and the transfer portal to take advantage of a third year QB and hopefully a stable coaching staff.
I broke it down looking at returning two deep, key losses, up and comers on the current roster, and holes we need to fill with the transfer portal.
DE
Returning: Cameron Lenhardt, Williams Nwaneri, Kade Pietrzak,
Key Losses: None
Up and Comers: None
Portal: None
I think we are good here with the growth of the young guys and we have bigger needs elsewhere.
NG
Returning: Riley Van Poppel and Gabe Moore
Key Losses: Elijah Jeudy (he starts so he is a loss I think)
Up and Comers: Tyson Terry? (Is this his spot)
Portal: 1-2
Need some help here to compete in the upper levels of the B1G.

Returning: Keona Davis and Jaylen George
Key Losses: None
Up and Comers: David Hoffken and Malcom Simpson
Portal: 1
This spot probably depends on how we feel about younger players but I think we could use some experience since George doesn't appear to be much of a factor.

Up and Comers: Dylan Rogers

I don't see this guy on our roster and I'm not sure McGahee will be back. Think we need a good pickup out of the portal here.

Returning: Vincent Shavers Jr and Dawson Merritt
Key Losses: Javin Wright and Marques Watson-Trent
Up and Comers: Jordan Ochoa and Christian Jones
Portal: 1
Needs more depth and talent here. Dawson Merritt has played some good minutes but we need more bodies ready to stop the run.

Key Losses: DeShon Singleton, Marques Buford Jr, and Malcolm Hartzog Jr.
Up and Comers: ?

I would take one here unless there are freshman we really feel good about that haven't played yet.

Key Losses: Ceyair Wright
Up and Comers: Jamir Conn, Amare Sanders, and Jeremiah Charles

Really need to keep Marshall and Jones and then find more in the portal.
Defense really needs some young guys to emerge and a decent infusion of talent from the portal. Losing so much in the front 6 last year is still hurting us. This was a much higher portal number than I thought we would need going into next year.

Get a long snapper and we are good with the returners at the rest of the spots. Probably need to cut some weight at kicker.
