RIP ED FOLEY

Ekler's contract expires January 31. Interesting.

is he any good
Was Pelini's LBs coach; he was a good recruiter. Doing ok at Tennessee as ST coach. Allowed one blocked punt and zero blocked field goals, the last four years. While at Nebraska, Ekeler coached six linebackers who reached the NFL: Cody Glenn, Phillip Dillard, Lavonte David, Will Compton, Eric Martin, and Trevor Roach.

His uncle Bob Martin played for the Huskers in the 70's. Not sure if Rhule would contact him though, but he would be interested to return IMO.

It’d be nice to bring back some of that Pelini “fuck the world” culture building.
during the pelini years i bitched about that mentality constantly, was one of the reasons i wanted him fired

honestly i wouldn't mind a tiny bit of that nowadays

I liked it, but I knew when things went a little sideways a fair amount of fans would want him fired. If he would have acted like Rhule he would have got the benefit of the doubt from most people and more time.

He has a personality that just gets stale after a long period of time and it's hard to sustain support when your program has plateaued.

That said they should have let the floor drop out on him, like they also should have with Frank, before they made a move

I think we might have learned the lesson of firing 9 win coaches by now. If you’re going to be stupid and fire a 9 win coach the AD better have a good coach lined up. In both instances the searches were a joke.

Ekeler is a a priority. Not sure if it’s top, top 3 or top 5 but he is one. There’s two in staff people that are in there and potentially two outside staff hires along with ekeler.

No clear priority list or who the others are. Trying to get that out of my buddy

I think it would be smarter to make an outside hire on this one.
