Rhule’s “QB costs 2 million comment”

Sounds like tPB needs to setup a go fund me for a new portal QB.

If 1890 was smart, they would have some sort of agreement with a brewing company who is the exclusive vendor at home games and the proceeds would go to support NIL. Maybe I’m way off.
Not even just the ales. Our collective should have a bunch of dumb shit to buy where 80% of the revenue goes to NIL. This should be done yesterday.

You could set this up easily through drop shipping companies. NU fans should have like an NU NIL marketplace where they could buy dumb shit like NU stress balls, t-shirts, backpacks for like $100 ($90 of the $100 goes to NIL fund). NU fans would buy this stuff knowing that the money is going to our NIL fund.

NU fanbase has to spend more per capita on university branded shirts, jackets, hats, trinkets, etc than any fanbase in the country. The fact that we don't have an NIL retail sales website that is set up to take advantage of this is really insane.

A few are ready to pony up the money, hoefully Rhule accepts it. If you listen to the full press conference he goes on to say 5 seconds later “the highest paid guy on the team shouldn’t be a guy coming in from the portal”

Sounded to me like he’s already making excuses as to why we won’t go after/get a good portal QB. Can he use some of his gazillion dollars of Panther buyout money to get a QB?? How bout Turd’s 1 mill salary increase?? How about some of the 800 million we have done in facilities/stadium upgrades the last 3 years.?

The fans aren’t the taters here, boomer
You say the fans aren’t the taters yet here you are suggesting Rhule and Turd pay out of pocket for players.

I could swear you used to be a decent poster. What happened?

Well I guess there is only one thing to do.

I’m suggesting they funnel some money into NIL through third party organizations… you’re a tater if you think it isnt happening elsewhere.

Turd said over half the stadium project is private funded… where’s the private funding when we need someone to throw the football?

You literally said “Can he use some of his gazillion dollars of Panther buyout money to get a QB?? How bout Turd’s 1 mill salary increase??” This was in reference to spending money on a portal QB.

You think other coaches around the country are using their own salary or savings to pay their players?

Yes. They're funneling it through 3rd parties so they have no plausible deniability when it blows up in their face and makes it so they can never coach in college again

Anybody else take this as a public cry for more people to donate and for our collective to
be ready to pony up real money for an actual QB or am i misreading what he said in his presser.
Has there ever been one other thing that has destroyed a sport quicker or more definitively than NIL has college football?
It’s made it so only 5-6 teams can be good. Well done everyone.

Blank envelopes my friend blank envelopes. NIL is a helluva money laundering operation

tPB needs to start it's own NIL collective. Get some sick ad reads on the local Lincoln stations.

Stress balls? T-shirts? That's not where the real money is my friend.

Totally agree. Players deserve money but this system is so stupid. The idea that it would level the playing field for programs like us was a fantasy. And seeing soo many players ditch their team after a good season to go to the highest bidder, it’s just disheartening and kneecaps the fun of college football. There should have been about 5000 better ideas for paying players than this.

I used to be against paying players and I was initially for NIL, but now it’s flipped. If the universities were able to pay players there would be so much more control with salary caps, terms, contracts, etc. This version of NIL is significantly worse than the “under the table paper bag” payments of yesteryear.

Yeah I remember back in the '10s most people scoffed at that Northwestern dude (a QB I think?) who was advocating for players to become university employees or something...? But now it seems like that would've been a way better outcome.

Whether that would've been the right final choice or not, it's just absurd that the powers-that-be never tried ANYTHING before throwing their hands up and saying "fuck it we're just gonna have a free for all!"

1890-branded cocaine? That would be interesting. The margins are not great - too much goes into transporting the product into the US. And you have manufacturing costs, distributor fees. We'd need a cheaper way to get it here. Maybe 1890 could start a college internship program where they turn local NE college kids into drug mules and they bring it in from Bolivia at a reduced rate. Then we have a higher margin on our 1890-branded coke, allowing those margins to go into the NIL fund. Then we get the $12m needed for Dylan Raiola, then we win 3 CFP championships. It's a little unorthodox, but it could work.

The intent was correct...if there was a very popular player and people were wearing their jersey number etc. the player should be able to get some kind of profit from their reputation....what we got was a wild west situation where everyone is a free agent. You can "recruit and develop" all you want but the 2-3 years of time and resources you pour into a kid means fuck all because another school (and their associated NIL setup) can poach them with a check...and can you blame the player? That's life changing money for playing a sport that could end your playing career in a single moment. I have no idea how it gets fixed but we aren't done with the whirlwind of changes yet. How do you fix it without making the players employees essentially and then how does Title IX play out?

Might need to pump the brakes on the stadium makeover lol
