ND offered, then a few days later Nebraska offers. He commits to ND. Foley has said "We screwed up" and should have been after Rezac sooner and harder.
But I wonder how true that is. This staff has placed such an emphasis on in-state recruiting. Rhule offered his teammate Lloyd within hours of getting the job. He has several other teammates with NU offers we're actively going after. Rezac didn't fall through the cracks. You know the staff has to have evaluated him and become quite familiar with him. You also know they have no problem offering low-rated kids with no other offers.
Yet Rezac didn't have an offer until we're reacting to Notre Dame offering. Did we really make a mistake in not offering him? I don't know what we learned about him last week that we didn't know over the previous six months to cause him to go from a no-offer guy to a "big miss" so suddenly.
After NU's recent (semi-)public comments and offer, we pretty much have to take him now if he does indeed decommit from ND. I wonder how much the staff actually wants that. Or was the "mistake" on our staff's part more about the optics of a Westside kid going to Notre Dame and missing a chance to get an in with all the other Westside players we're recruiting?
