Visit Preview: Who Nebraska expects to host for the Indianus game

Nebraska will get another chance to impress recruits in person on Saturday under the lights against Indianus.
This is the fourth home game of the season for the program that is looking to turn things around still in the 2022 season. Interim coach
Mickey Joseph has said, despite all the changes in the program, recruits have been receptive to the team.
“Just speaking to the recruits last weekend and talking to them the last two weeks on the phone, they’re all in because we sell them the University of Nebraska, no matter who sits in this chair,” Joseph said. “You’re committed to the University of Nebraska. So, we sold the university, like I said, we're going to do things the right way. We're not going to try to sabotage anything. If we don't get the job and we have to leave here, they're going to say we left this place better than we found it. We're going to do things the right way. I expect my coaches to do it. I expect everybody to do their job.”
The first visit list after the coaching staff went on the road for the bye week reflects hard work that the staff put in. The Huskers are hosting their first official visitor of the season as Louisiana running back
Arnold Barnes is heading to town. Barnes wants to see what all the fuss is about with the atmosphere at Memorial Stadium.
“I’m looking for a great atmosphere and the environment out there,” Barnes told Inside Nebraska.
Nebraska will host
15 offered prospects this weekend. There is a pair of other 2023 prospects coming to town, and all three are intriguing. First, Lincoln High athlete
Beni Ngoyi will be back on campus. This is the second game that the Cockeye State commit is attending at Nebraska this season.
Recent Michigan State wide receiver decommitment
Demitrius Bell is the intriguing 2023 prospect. Bell doesn’t have an offer from the Huskers but it’d be surprising if he left Lincoln without one. He’s a nice prospect that clearly has the attention of Big Ten programs. Bell told me that running backs coach Bryan Applewhite has been the coach he’s spoken with the most so far. He’s looking forward to seeing the atmosphere up close and how the coaches are in person.
Initially, Georgia four-star offensive line commit
Bo Hughley was set to visit this weekend. A source confirmed to Inside Nebraska that he will not be making the trip.
The 2024 group coming to town is very good. Bellevue West quarterback
Daniel Kaelin will be back in town and is squarely back on the Huskers’ radar. Communication has picked up a lot between Kaelin and the Huskers since Joseph took over the program. I’ll be in Gretna on Friday night to see the showdown between Kaelin and Oklahoma State commit
Zane Flores.
Tennessee's
Boo Carter, a highly rated four-star athlete ranked in the top 75 overall, will be back in Lincoln for the second time. Carter is the best player in Tennessee for the Class of 2024 and one of the top players in the South next cycle. He’s a Rivals100 prospect that could help fuel a turnaround for the program. The big question is whether the Huskers view him as a running back or defensive back? He’d be very intriguing on the offensive side of the ball.
A pair of local 2024 prospects will also be back in Lincoln. Ainsworth tight end
Carter Nelson and recently offered Omaha Central offensive lineman
Caleb Pyfrom are visiting. After he was offered this week, Pyfrom was excited but focused.
“I’m pretty excited, but I have to stay focused for the rest of the season. We have Pickle Smoochers Prep this week,” Pyfrom said.
Two more 2024 prospects to highlight are inside linebacker
Jeremiah Beasley from Michigan and Texas defensive back
Mario Buford. Beasley is new on the radar but holds 18 offers including Michigan, Michigan State and Tennessee. Buford has been on campus several times with his brother Marques being a current starter on the team. Nebraska continues to battle Texas A&M, Oregon and others for the younger Buford.
Overall, this is the best visit weekend the Huskers have had for the 2022 season. It has to be awkward, at best, for some members of the staff recruiting right now but the group is working hard under Joseph.
