Academics were a concern with Morton as a recruit and sounds like they still might be. Was a top 100 player at one point. 4 years to play 3.

"Morton, who was part of the 2020 class, held more than 30 offers as a high school recruit and was committed to Alabama at one time. Georgia Tech was an option as well, but Morton never took official visits in the winter of 2020 and went unsigned".

Upcoming visits to USC and FAU. Had 1730 yards and 18 touchdowns for New Mexico Military last year. Played special teams for Florida State with nine tackles and 247 yards on 11 kickoff returns.

"Grant was originally part of the 2018 class. He played for Florida State in 2018, redshirted in 2019. Transferred in 2020 and played for New Mexico Military Institute in 2021. The running back would have two more seasons of eligibility."

How the hell was Georgia Tech an option for Morton if he had academic troubles?

You beat one kid with a switch and all of a sudden you're the bad guy
Sheeeiiiit. My Mom used to have to go cut her own switch when she misbehaved and Grandpa administered her punishment. I remember her describing the switch selection process: "Not too thin because those ones really sting and leave welts, and not too thick because those thump pretty good. Somewhere in the middle was what you were looking for."

To be fair, that era actually believed in that stuff, and even though Grandpa Petersen was descended from Vikings, he had five daughters and swung lightly. Even my Mom confessed that it was one or two light whacks just to prove a point, and reiterated that she did not make those mistakes again.
