Out of curiosity I looked the big ten transfer takes from last season. There were, i want to say, 64 total transfers that entered the big ten for this season. Found that interesting....was higher than I thought. Collectively it looked like most teams cherry pick. Indiana and Michigan State hit it pretty hard. Ohio State and Penn State didn't touch it.

If there was a new coach it'd be worth thinking about. Current staff though? Nah.
That's a lot more than I would have guessed.

OK......WTF is going on?

We were told that it was very important to switch the schedule (Example the Fordham game and the attempted abortion of the the OU game in Norman) because they needed to have some early dates on the calendar at home for recruiting purposes. So far we have had one official visitor from an early commitment (Victor Jones Jr.) and well......thats it.

We have a home night game that is also Homecoming this week against NW and one scheduled official. (London Hall but might get pushed a week)
Next week we play Michigan at night as well and so far nobody is listed as an official visit.
Saturday night games offer the best chance to avoid any scheduling problems for kids playing in high school games on Friday night. It gives them time to travel to Lincoln Saturday morning so they can arrive and not miss out on festivities.

So why aren't we taking advantage? I understand that the class will be small based on our current roster and I know that we are bringing in a handful of 2023 prospects on unofficial visits but something just isn't right. The results have been poor but the overall press has been really good for the defense which you would think would garner some interest.

Anyone have any ideas?

Are we that cold of a product?
Are we looking to fill the remaining spots with transfers? (seems risky)
Are the coaches giving us the indication that they won't be here next year?

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any successful program and should be a TOP TOP priority considering the disadvantages we already face when it comes to attracting players.

In the end my theory is that the change in scheduling that brought us the Fordham game and almost a replacement for OU was about money for the local Lincoln businesses which they casually mentioned (a number of times) as a benefit to go along with their preferred public narrative of opportunity for recruiting. This is connected to another theory I have about what is keeping us down but this is a recruiting thread so maybe another time.

Good story here... My friends adopted him and his sister after fostering them for a period of time. Great kids and really happy for the family.
He was NCN player of the game on Thursday. Saw his family waiting for him after the game. He seemed very appreciative of his family all coming and watching him when he went up to them. I was wondering what the back story was

That is cool. I really hope he ends up at NU, I think he could grow into a hell of an edge rusher

We just offered a JUCO DL named Jeffrey M’ba. Out of high school he was a 0.8777 3*.

Devon Jackson to Oregon with Avante.

Max Dugan just threw a TD to JD Spielmann. Why didn't we recruit Dugan again? Was that the same year we took Smothers?
