Are we recruiting or have we packed it in?

Homecoming week. No hype? Wtf are we doing?

How do you recruit when all indications are you'll be gone by end of next season at the latest?

It's not like the season went to shit and they threw it in neutral. Recruiting has been a disaster all cycle
Wasn't there a strong indication that the team had to exceed expectations before recruits got on board? Was in neutral pending the start of the season.

I just have no idea who these recruits were who were magically going to become super interested and commit when we ran out to a 5-0 start.
I'm not saying they were lining up. Point is any recruit worth a shit wasnt going to give them the time of day until they proved it on the field. They're not stupid. They knew they were talking to guys that probably wouldn't be coaching very long.

Staff could have went hard at lower end recruits or waited to see what happened with the start of the season. Probably went with the lazy way out but does it really matter? Better off picking up low end guys from the portal than out of high school. At least they have some experience and you know what their baggage/problems are.

This staff has shown that W/L isn't directly correlated to recruiting results until now. Goodwill must've worn out... this program can't afford a class that's considered a miss at this point.

3 years in and selling recruits on we're still building and you'll get early playing time was tough. Really partially just got that year because of covid. 4th year no way you're selling that.

Hopefully the transfer portal can make up for it. If not, it's worse than a transition year of recruiting.

Why would you transfer into this mess if you were worth anything?
I have no idea. That's just the only thing I can think of saving this class.

The quality of player in this class is lower on average than years past. I don't think there's a top-30 prospect at his position committed to or interested in Nebraska at this point.

One 2022 visitor for Homecoming as of today? Really, really bad.

It's rare for any of the kids transferring to end up at a D1 school let alone a P5 school. You won't get the top transfers but shouldn't be hard to get the next tier.

Out of curiosity I looked the big ten transfer takes from last season. There were, i want to say, 64 total transfers that entered the big ten for this season. Found that interesting....was higher than I thought. Collectively it looked like most teams cherry pick. Indiana and Michigan State hit it pretty hard. Ohio State and Penn State didn't touch it.

If there was a new coach it'd be worth thinking about. Current staff though? Nah.
