Nebraska football's insecurity is an elephant in the room IMO and not everything is an ultimatum on the the status of Nebraska football.

Well, that's a plus at least.Brand new coaching staff this year...Clay Helton is the new head coach. Who's USC teams had a reputation of being soft.
You're wanting me to talk to you about whether a coach should be fired or not. We're having two different conversations. I'm talking about what a team's, any team, expectations should be when they haven't even had a 6 win season in 5 years. The expectation should be to get to a bowl, get the extra practices, recruit better and improve. That's not a ride I'd be willing to take and I don't understand why anyone else is willing to. You have proof. SF is one of the worst coaches in the B1G. It's not opinion, statistics prove that. You choose to keep riding the rollercoster with Frost yore gonna get what you ask for.
Speaking of Dylan Raiola, think about that. His dad loves it here, had a great career. His son should be committed here. Yet, even though his dad loves the program he knows he CAN'T send his son here....even though he probably wanted too. You think that'd be different if Nebraska was a top 15 program? Top 25? That was the original expectation for Frost. Or so we thought, obviously that isn't true.
Yeah so do we WANT frost to go 6-6 with a team that would go 3-9 or 4-8 against a normal schedule and be retained?
Not really, but I think I get where you're at and I can respect it. I agree it's not a fair expectation to make a big jump from 3 to 9-10 wins. Which would also make me ask: Then what are we doing here? You're wanting me to talk to you about whether a coach should be fired or not. We're having two different conversations. I'm talking about what a team's, any team, expectations should be when they haven't even had a 6 win season in 5 years. What Nebraska fans want is to jump from a 3 win team to a team that is as good as Wisconsin and Cockeyes in one year. Just not going to happen.
Now if you want to talk about if that will ever happen under Frost, sure doesn't look like it. But as a fan of the team and not the coaching staff, I go along with whomever is coaching the team and just hope that they start to show progress. That progress this year is bowl eligibility. Have to crawl before you can walk. Nebraska decided to be a sprinter, then an elite sprinter then a paraplegic. Now they are trying just to get back to jogging.
Still not going to hide the fact that our defense lost a Lot of good, proven players with a lot of experience. Spin it however you want to, but even with an easier schedule our defense is going to struggle to be anything close to what it was last year. Stille, Daniel's, Thomas, Rogers, Doman, CTB, Williams and Dismuke. Good luck replacing that or coming close to the production they gave to the defense.I thought the Cover 3 Podcast talked about it pretty fairly yesterday.
The only good news is...and there's not much good news right now...
Nebraska opens up with Northwestern who outside of the weird covid year has had the worst power 5 offense in football for the past 2 non covid seasons.
Then they have North Dakota and Georgia Southern.
And then after OU they really only play one offense up to Halloween that is any threat to throw the ball except Purdue.
Now with Nebraska basically being down to 6 DL, the depth issue vs a team like Illinois may come into effect. As we know they are going to literally piss pound Nebraska.
The schedule is really favorable for Nebraska to get to a bowl. I know right now it's all doom and gloom because of the Rogers transfer and the face that Nebraska 2 best offensive linemen didn't practice all spring. But the schedule is the easiest it's been in a long time.
And then he was back onside a week later as if he never made the video. Right down the memory hole.
- November: Sam McKewon records a video on the field after the Purdue loss like he's a hostage taken by ISIS and is finally willing to admit we're a dumpster fire.
That’s where I’m from!!! Newman GroveOnly won those football titles after the Newman Grove boys came to town

this is where my grand pappy would get his knob slobbed back in the roarin 20’s
People were questioning if Stille should be playing much just a yaer ago. Daniels had one good year. Thomas...come on. Rogers and Domann are definitely blows to the defense. CTB is tough to replace. Williams and Dismuke are replaceable.Still not going to hide the fact that our defense lost a Lot of good, proven players with a lot of experience. Now on offense. Lose a draft pick and conference player at the center position. Besides Nouili and the very small sampling we seen of Teddy, who else do you have any trust in?? Benhart? Piper? Hixson? Complete dog shit. 1 serviceable TE with Vokelek, then a bunch of skinny pussies behind him on depth chart.
We are in for another tumultuous year. We should be in year 1 of a new coaching staff. Now we're just another year behind. Frost will go down as the worst coach in Husker history.
that really happenin? Not too hip to the idea of beer sales around the grand babies, but anything that ticks off ole doc thom I’m forYeah, but beer sales in the stadium are coming soon. So there’s that to look to.
Not for this upcoming season, but I’m betting next.that really happenin? Not too hip to the idea of beer sales around the grand babies, but anything that ticks off ole doc thom I’m for
you make some great points terry, Something else I’m also looking forward to in October is harvest thanks!Guys, let's be honest with ourselves. Scott has a pretty extensive history of losing productive players in the off season.
JD Spielman ring a bell? Wandale Robinson anybody? Luke McCaffery was sold to us as the next big thing.
Now Zavier Betts and Casey Rogers. Speaking of Zavier....go back and look at the absolute graveyard that the 2020 class has become. I count 13 of that class that are gone that would be entering their prime playing time years had they still been at NU.
Why does this keep happening? Because the players and the people close to them can see what a disaster Frost has been. The players see the program from the inside and know more about the day in day out than anybody so when a bunch of them decide to leave then what they are seeing everyday must be a shit show. Can anybody disagree with me at this point? Its not a one year thing. Does anybody question the football knowledge of JD Spielman's family? Wandale had people who are very active in the football world and they advised him to leave. Luke McCaffery has years upon years of NFL experience, including a super bowl champion, in his family and they were pretty vocal about getting Luke TF out of Lincoln. Kade Warner was a team captain and bounced and his superbowl champion dad fully supported that move. Once is just a thing, but having multiple people with football blood head for the exits tells the story.
I'm sure Scott will go with the old "Next man up" when addressing the Casey Rogers situation but has that ever been the case? We shouldn't pretend like another productive player leaving isn't going to affect us. At this point the transfer portal is the only thing holding this team together at all, but that isn't a viable solution for a program that wants to be a winner every year. Does anybody believe that we will hit 100% with the transfers? That they will all be great or at least good? I don't.
What about guys leaving that had a chance to play more? Deontre Thomas decided to leave and honestly it looks on the surface like a bad choice because his name isn't mentioned by any NFL people that I have seen but he still didn't want to be here any more. Why? Cam Jurgens looks like a good decision from the NFL angle but did it even really seem like a difficult choice for him? Adrian didn't shed many tears upon his departure. (Disclaimer: I'm glad he left) I'm sure there are more that I'm not remembering right now. Sure, guys leave early for their shot at the NFL from every team but our guys seem to be making that decision despite the substantial risks involved, almost as if they can't wait to leave.
Sure Frost has made some changes to the coaching staff but those moves seemed to have been forced on to him. Could they work out? I don't know, does it look like it's working out so far? The OL in the spring game looked like pre school. The coach Frost brought in was questionable. Would anybody be surprised that the only real substance behind the move was because they thought it gave Nebraska a shot at the coach's nephew? To me that is the level of Scott's brain. I'm serious. Anybody have some evidence to refute that? Can anybody point me to something truly smart that Scott has said? Any wisdom he put forth? A move that seemed ahead of the curve? Up to now they only thing we have gotten are old, recycled platitudes like "We know where this thing is going".
The only truly excellent move Scott has made with his coaching staff is the Mickey hire and that looks more like a Turd move than anything. (Just look at the way Turd ALWAYS mentions Mickey in any interview)
The hope for the new season is starting to fade more and more each week. Top young returning WR leaves. Lackluster spring game. New transfer QB with an injured hand. Top young returning DL leaves. The hits just keep on coming. The reality is starting to set in. We all know what the future has in store for us. Some of us are more than ready to admit it. Some of us still aren't there yet. My guess is that by late October it will be obvious that we will be searching for a new coach and finally ready to put an end to this tragic experience.
