New Commit QB Commit - Torres is N

There's lots of recruiting hotbeds in Texas, but San Antonio isn't one of them. Torres is the #1 recruit from San Antonio, and there's no one else in Texas's top 200 from SA.
Which is weird. Maybe a big soccer town.

Offer lists rarely lie (except in the positive direction since kids can claim anything). This is especially true in recruiting hotbeds. How many flyers do we need to take before we learn a lesson?
That part of Texas is hardly a recruiting hotbed

Except this season. Guy was a first time starting QB after not having a summer to hit up all the camp circuits. Factor in SA is rarely recruited and his High School doesn’t produce a lot of talent, finally throw in the fact his film is a lot of him running for life before making throws and it’s tough for teams to pull the trigger. I’m sure had Covid never happened he would have had more offers but with teams securing QB commits very early on he didn’t get a ton of looks. I will say Klieman wanting him should be a nice sign as he has done a great job of finding QBs in his time at NDSU.

Haarberg is a WAY better athlete, but pretty similar arm talent.
I actually think Torres will arrive on campus a better qb than Haarberg is now.

Unfortunately after his first practice with Coach Verduzco he will begin regressing, and he will continue regressing under Verduzco until he reaches his personal floor, which I believe is actually lower than Haarberg's.

Maybe Torres will arrive better than Haarberg, but I really think that Haarberg was and is pretty underrated.

As far as Verduzco, you wont hear me defending him. Our only hope is 1) we have seemingly changed the type of QB we are going after. Maybe, maybe Super Mario can have better luck developing this new breed of QBs? Or, and more likely, maybe Mario will be long gone by the time Torres shows up. A boy can dream...

I like him a lot. Big accurate arm on a shit team. Now, full transparency…I’d like him a lot more if his first name was Nacho.

Hope you're right. QBs fitting at NDSU are NOT what we should be aiming for though (I understand your general sentiment). Granted, we have fallen pretty far, and they'd arguably be more competitive than we've been at times.
