So Nebraska now has 3 4-star kids in the QB room and an incoming freshman who has some pretty good potential.

Will be interested to see if Smothers sticks around. Gotta be tough on him.

This is JMO.... I would have a package for Smothers geared toward RZ, short yardage, etc... Let him compete for QB2.

But it really doesn't make sense for him to hit the portal until after next spring unless Purdy/HH/Torres just grabs hold of the QB2 spot and it is clear.

With Purdy on board I think this puts the past weekend into a positive light.

New RB, new young competition at QB and a possible DB or two still to come.

IMO.....Purdy isn't necessarily replacing LS.....he is replacing HH. A roster upgrade basically. Remember that our QB recruiting wasn't going great that year and we just kind of settled on HH. Now obviously CP and LS are competing too but I think that HH is the one that should consider a position switch or the portal because he is probably never going to get a snap. I actually think Masker would have played before him had it come down to it. Torres will probably overtake him, if he stays, too.

Disagree on HH. I’d give it another year or probably two before you write him off.

He has the highest ceiling of any of the QB’s, and that includes Thompson and Purdy. He also happens to have the lowest floor. It’s too early to tell which one he gets/stays closer to.
