Purdoodoo opens up as -11 point favorites

Yessss keep doubting big Mick energy. I want to see these level of spreads the rest of the season.

After seeing the OL vs Buttgers, I'd bet the other team to cover against Nebraska every game. It's going to be tough as shit to score points because of how awful they are. Worse than last year....
at least point lat, id rather grab some of my friends from the nursing home and suit them up how shitty our OL is

What's the problem? I know it's not the most talented unit in the world, but it doesn't even seem like they're in the right spots to get ragdolled by defenders most of the time

I think one of the reasons they suck so bad was the goal of S&C. Get big and strong....just don't think their mobility overall is all that great. Plus a new OL coach, and reportedly not doing live PUP until a few weeks ago, I'm assuming they didn't see a lot of live "bullets" in the movement game either then. All contribute to their suckage.

I've been screaming about that for years. Folks on 247 were yuuuge Duval fans and would lose their mashed tater minds

I think Dom and Whip are trying to do different things and the style Dom coaches and the type of offense whip wants to run are in conflict. Also, they haven’t had any development under Austin and our S&C coaches.
This might be a super potato take, but I do wonder if we've effectively stunted the growth of promising OL croots, e.g. Corcoran, by asking him to play way too soon and at times at a position that doesn't suit them in the long term.

It seems like any time in the last 10 years that we've actually landed a coveted OL prospect, we immediately throw them into the fire and they never live up to their potential, but many of them to on to the pros seem to be just fine.

I think that is part of it, playing OL guys too early, but I'm not suprised about Cork sucking. Have a buddy from around Lawrence Free State, he told me when we got him that Cork was pillow soft...he was right.

I think making them play as 18-19 year olds before they’re ready kills their confidence and sometimes gets them injured against 22-23 year old B1G DLs and they never reach their potential.

The biggest red flag with a top rated recruit who wants to come to Nebraska is that they want to come to Nebraska.

Kaz made a point on Hail Varsity he always wanted juniors and seniors on his lines unless they were a freak talent. It can kill a kid’s confidence playing too early

I remember when we started Tyler Moore as a freshman tackle and it was such a big deal because Nebraska never started freshman on the OL and now basically every season we trot out some totally unprepared 19 year old to fail over and over and over again.

Whoever the next guy is needs to commit to a dynamic OL coach and recruiter who will get us out of this cycle of using freshman as bandaids.
