Considering how Burt Searcey would stop recording the interrogations until he heard what he wanted to hear, then turn camera back on when they were ready to implicate someone...plus the psychologist meeting with them privately in their cell to reinforce the concept of "repressed memory."...plus no DNA from any of them at the crime scene...it seems unlikely any of them were ever involved. Sadly, Joseph White was probably the only one with an IQ above 75, and never confessed...so Searcey took advantage of the other 5 dimwits to convict him.

People from the Beatrice area are almost 3-1 complete weirdo white trash with sub 90 IQs

Western Nebraskans seem the most normal & easy to get along with (at least those that move to the eastern part of the state)

I just finished episode 2. My wife and I were sort of shocked by how many lowlifes apparently lived in Beatrice at the time, especially transients from other parts of the country. Anyway, the community theater part definitely is the worst part of the series

I watched three episodes tonight so still have more to go, but my take at this point is it is quite a coincidence that everyone but Kathy and Joe admitted to the same crime and in some cases requested the police to add more to the record. I was ready to go into this with a Making a Murder, Brenden Dacy type coerced admission, but the odds of that working while going after 6 people just is insane.

There is a town in this area called Oregon, MO. The towns founders were trekking on the Oregon Trail from Independence, MO back in the 1850s. They got lost and just decided to settle there, calling it Oregon.. nothing says our town was founded by morons more than that one.

And good God it only gets worse in Cockeye.

Shenandoah, Clarinda, and Atlantic. Those towns have kept the trailer park industry afloat for decades.

Nebraska City- Arbor Day is the shittiest holiday

And of course right smack dab in the middle:

The Capital- Falls City.

I have not been to all of those places but did used to have to visit relatives in SW Cockeye and northern Missouri when I was a kid. My parents got us in and out of there quickly at the very least.

Grew up in Beatrice, and yes 80% of that town are exactly that. Carnival white trash freaks ..
