Work is offering a set out amount of buyouts with 4 months pay.

Take the buyout or roll the dice and see what happens?

With the country teetering in recession territory? Hard no
Haven’t we been teetering with a recession for a decade now.
Company has been trying to hit profitability vs ebdita this year but this quarter has been a giant turd. And the ceo has sold 75% of this stock this year.
Me thinks they are just trying a short term stop gap make the company look more profitable and be bought out

I think imma take it.
If I don’t and they don’t get enough people to take the offer I imagine they will do layoffs with a much worse compensation package. Plus I don’t feel like having to constantly look over my back to see what’s happening and if more will come while doing 3x the work.

When my previous employer did this, most of the folks with good job prospects who stayed ended up wishing they'd taken the buyout.
Because what followed was several years of layoffs with increasingly worse severance packages, and everyone that stayed had a lot of extra work to do.
Idk how long the deal is on the table for but I'd say to try to get another job lined up and if you can, take it.

They gave a deadline of Monday morning

Or stay and apply like crazy to other jobs. One positive to staying is that you never have to answer on an application that you’ve been laid off
If you take a buyout to leave were you laid off? I have no idea as I am not an expert.
