I hate.....hate going to eye doctors.

I've worn glasses most of my life. Because I'm such a pussy when it comes to anything near my eyes (this is why I wear glasses and not contacts) I can't stand to even go to the optomoetrist but once every 3-4 years. Thank God they got rid of that puff thing in the eye.

Anyways, I need to go to the eye doctor again. My wife is trying to convince me to get Lasik done because I'm constantly switching between eye classes and prescription sunglasses. Naturally...the on and off causes a lot of wear and tear and I'm constantly buying cheap glasses/sunglasses off of the internet.

All that to ask...how awful is Lasik? My eyes are watering thinking about it.

Nothing more to fear than any other medical procedure. I get it though blindness is a scary thought.

My wife had it done.

She's not a fan of doing stuff with her eyes either, but had worn contacts for quite a while. She had maybe a couple weeks of stuff feeling a little weird or whatever while it healed, you gotta be careful to follow the recovery instructions for the day or two after and she maybe some general eye dryness for a little while, but ~5 years later still has good vision without glasses or contacts.

The mental part was the biggest obstacle. The procedure itself was not a big deal, according to her (she said the smell was kind of weird), and I think most places will give you xanax or something if needed.

Would recommend.

I did it 8 years ago and highly recommend. I don't know anyone that has done it that's had a bad experience. It's amazing waking up in the morning without putting on glasses or contacts.

The procedure is easy, quick and painless. You just need to plan for about 24 hours afterward to keep your eyes mostly closed so they heal up effectively.

You should absolutely do it and not worry about it.

I had PRK surgery 5 years ango instead of LASIK because my eyes were too dry for LASIK. Recovery is longer with PRK (2-3 weeks to achieve your “best vision”) vs 24-48 hours for LASIK. Saying that, I would absolutely do it all over again. Being able to wake up and see every morning after 25 years of contacts and glasses is still amazing.

If you do it, go to the best doctor in your area. Not something to go cheap on.

What doctor did everyone go to for LASIK. I have been thinking about this as well tired of glasses. Especially on the golf course

Don't be a pussy and get it done. I had it done like 2 years ago best decision I made. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner.

If I remember correctly @Jim14510 almost went blind because of it

I had it done in 2009 and have had great vision ever since. I don't have any issues with my vision. I highly recommend getting it done. As others have mentioned, waking up and being able to see is a great feeling

I did probably 15ish years ago. The best thing I ever did. Now over time my vision is back to needing glasses, but the first 10 years or so were wonderful. If I had an extra couple of grand laying around I'd definitely do it again.

When it comes to things around my eyes...I am the biggest of pussies. There's no way to defend it. I won't even watch other people put contacts in.

I was like that before I grew balls in my early 20s and just did it. Took me forever to get them in the first time. There's still hope!

I was a bit weirded out by it but you hardly feel anything and it took less than 15 mins. The pre-lasik appointment took longer.

I was amazed at the simplicity of it all.

Did mine in 2007. Still have 20/20 vision although my focus is slowly heading towards needing some readers.

One of the best things I ever spent money on. Get a consultation and let them tell you if you are a good candidate.

Had mine done by Vince Sutton.

My exact experience. Amazing 15 year run for me too. Would highly recommend.
