Omaha (OMA) Airport Updates

So I've got to fly out of there on Tuesday to Dallas on Delta for work. Have to bring my clubs, so I'll have to check a bag. Anyone that's flown recently with all of the construction have any tips? I thought I heard that the terminal is basically split in half and you can't get from one side to the other.

Yeah I think parking is really the major issue. If you park in the correct part of the garage then it’s not bad.

I don’t hate that
The $120 RT pp I paid to take the family to Destin last summer, I thought, was $ well spent
Although a tourist trap, those beaches are beautiful & was an awesome weekend getaway on the cheap

However, WTF is Breeze?

Why would anyone go to LA for any logical reason?

To visit their parents/grandparents and extended family. Or just to see a bunch of cool stuff. You’ve never been to LA?

Newer budget airline. Their website says Lincoln to Orlando starting 12/10/2025 and Lincoln to Vegas and Lincoln to John Wayne 4/8/2026. All those routes only have Wednesday and Saturday flights.

I would fly Lincoln's airport if it were not at least twice as expensive to fly. My wife and I both tried to make Lincoln's airport an option for work, but it was never competitive with Omaha. It is 20 minutes at least closer for us to go to Lincoln's airport.
Omaha's Eppley is however also going through a multi-billion dollar remodel, and when they are done, it will be of the better airports in the 1 million + arena of metro areas.

Felt this warranted its own thread separate from the complaints about flying… will probably make one for LNK too at some point.

Anyway, OMA is losing its flight to LGA on American per The Points Guy:

I’ll take the opportunity to rant here a bit on something that is decades old but still baffles me as to how moronic the LNK city government can be. This stupidity spans generations and perhaps across both parties. However, as I understand it, in the 70s there was discussion between OMA and LNK about creating a shared airport halfway between the two cities. Similar to DFW. However, in the end LNK took their toys out of the pram and backed out of the deal claiming that it was the capital city and needed it’s own airport.

Imagine how much more traffic there would have been with a shared airport! I’m convinced both cities would have prospered far more by working together than as separates.

To add insult to injury Lincoln was approached by Gallup for tax breaks to build a new, larger corporate HQ. Lincoln declined and they moved to OMA. I understand that decision was also influenced with OMA having a larger airport to better support corporate travel. Lincoln paid the price twice.

Does anyone else recall these stories or have more specific insights?

Lincoln was also a finalist for the UPS Air hub. It came down to Lincoln and Louisville, KY, and the rumor on the street was Lincoln upped their bid, so UPS picked Louisville (which also had a few more average days of sunshine per year than Lincoln did). Big loss of jobs and there's a lotta concrete out there to maintain for the little traffic that airport generates.
