Cardale was a better compliment than Barrett because he opened up the passing game over the top and stretched the field which in turn helped the running game. Barrett was more dink and dunk. OSU was a different team with Cardale’s spark that season.
I don’t remember Barrett all that well except he was more of an efficient passer. It’s like Casey Thompson with knowing where the ball is supposed to go but with a weaker arm. I don’t think the national title year & barretts injury triggered cardale to elevate the team tho.
It always helps to have a qb stretch the field & force teams into two high safeties with less men in the box but the following year was still centered around Zeke with Barrett & cardale’s production being relatively the same. Once Zeke left, Barrett’s production dropped off but it his numbers were on par with cardale before then
