I havent been out yet, however I am going with a few guys up to Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin for some world class ice fishing and sturgeon spearing in February.

Been a goal of mine for last decade. Keep going up to Northern Michigan in January or February, but Ice hasn't been safe to be on any of those times. I keep missing it. Going to Honduras for a couple weeks in March, so no Winter Michigan trip this year. Maybe next Winter.

Got up to the dakotas a handful of times early in December and will be out on the ice near Lincoln tomorrow.
Ice wasn’t ready the spots I checked yesterday. Should be a full go tomorrow I’d think.
Be careful out there, the high wind during freeze up will cause really uneven ice conditions. It’ll be next week before I’m not spudding my way to each spot.
Heading up to Winnipeg to chase greenbacks for a week in march for my first time. Can’t wait

Where the hell were you in northern Michigan that didn’t have safe ice in January? Every body of water should be safe to drive a semi over up there by then unless you’re trying to get on one of the great lakes..

I haven’t been for the last few years. When I lived right outside of Wahoo I found a nice ledge on the treeline on Wanahoo and caught a lot of limits of Crappie. I’ve heard it’s been overfished a little the last few years and has slowed down.

Yeah I’ve had a couple people tell me it’s gone to shit the last year or so.
I know it filled with carp and shad and the northern population fell off a cliff but I went a stretch there of catching some nice walleye half way consistently there.

I heard a small lake just north of Lincoln had 5.5" on north side and just 1" in other areas

Just got home today from fishing in North Dakota. Caught shit loads of perch, they just weren’t very big on average.

Still chasing deer. Time for ice fishing after that. Our pond is stocked with bluegill, crappie, bass, cat, walleye and yellow perch. Yet to pull a walleye through the ice.

Last 2 years our season here has been less than a month.
Okoboji/Big Spirit is really not a bad drive and are really really underrated for fishing if you’re trying to extend your season after we inevitably get a week of 60 degrees that sends everything to shit.
