I had the same thought. I'm guessing the notion there was get five yards or so and make fourth down something you can try. If not, clock runs, you try to draw them off, and punt and make the backup QB drive down the field with little time.

We’ve went QB draw on third and long several times this year. It tells me is he doesn’t trust his QB to make a throw.
