DR did unleash that long bomb, so he is probably not injured much. He has the arm- people saying his short, outside throws might be arm strength issues, are wrong. He has a cannon. His style, at least at this point, is his touch on that intermediate game over the LB's. But if you lose that confidence, those throws don't roll off the hand as well.

He will be fine. Small speedbump, and maybe even one that will be good in the long term. It isn't all going to be easy peasey.
Amen. Unless he's injured you have to let him play through it. It's the only way for him to fully develop.

… you just watched that defensive performance and walked away critical? I don’t know what more you could have asked for….

No. If you notice, our defense played great when they are allowed to play on their toes, not on their heels. Once TW started bringing pressure with 4 and 5 man fronts, it changed the defense and the game.

Defense played great - I just don't like a 3 man front. It puts the defense in a default position of weakness. And sure, one can say that we just need to mix it up and bring LB's, etc, which means it's not really a 3 man front. But we just haven't done that well, and IMO, by default, you put yourself behind the 8 ball by being a man or two short up front in numbers.

We also have the true rush ends to bring the heat - use them. We have a very good interior DL, use them properly.

This was not me knocking the defensive players or their effort, etc. I just don't like the 3 man front scheme. Doesn't work against more than bad competition. We don't have Suh there to take up 2 or 3 O Lineman on his own (and our interior DL are actually really stout BTW).

Having the endzone view today, it’s hard to say how the receivers played. Banks was held a couple times when trying to break open.

Meanwhile, they had 3 holdings because their receivers can’t stay on their feet and fight through press coverage. Unreal
First time I’ve seen defensive holding called (twice) when a receiver ran at a defender helmet first.

We need to get over Busch. He's stated multiple times he has no interest in coaching for Nebraska again.
A lot of that from my understanding is he had some health issues and decided it was time to retire? Can anyone verify that?

Nebraska - W
Cockeye - L
Alabama - L
Missouri - L

Today Was A Good Day GIF
Hopefully we can add Miami and FSU Ls to that list too

Regardless of why he doesn't want to coach again we all just need to let that dream go

I have decided - I don't like the 3-3-4 alignment. I didn't like it when I heard this is what TW likes, and after a season and a half, I still don't like it. It works against bad teams because you can get away with it. Against better teams, you have to bring the heat and control the LOS. Bring heat and that means DB's and LB's don't have to cover as long in coverage. Opposing offenses get scrambled up when consistent pressure is brought.

We have the edge rushers. We have a very stout interior DL group. Put them together, and you have something really good. Mess around and try to cheat the system (get away with not rushing enough DL guys), and you not only get beat by the run, but also the pass when pressure is not enough. We can line up 4 more, fine. But a 3 man front on defense - we are not good enough to do it and beat the better teams.
People are giving you shit, but I agree. The 3-3-4 is a stupid alignment. I hope we never see it again.

I don't mind getting shit. People took my comments wrong is all. We have a good defense. IMVHO, football is an aggressive sport that you play on your toes, not on your heels. I've seen decades of this same thing - when your football team is in sets (offense or defense) where you end up playing on your heels too often, it doesn't work well towads the goal of winning.

Our biggest issue in 2nd halves, is we are playing not to lose. Yes, it is good to protect the ball and be methodical (establish the run game), but when it goes too far (on both sides of the ball), the players know it and it feeds into playing scared/hesitant.

Luckily, we have been leading in all of our 2nd halves this year. Only lost one of those, despite not taking the bull by the horns well in how we play in 2nd halves. We are making progress, though. Confidence has to be built by winning, and winning ugly can actually be a good thing. But having to win ugly all the time - would rather not go that route, although winning is winning.

With our atrocious special teams and kicking game, it puts us in a bind, which gives an advantage to our opponents, and by default puts our team on it's heels. Just one part of the puzzle, but a big one, also. Defense really stepped up in the 2nd half. Hell, they pitched a shutout until the last few minutes of the game. If the offense was more consistent, it would take a ton of pressure off.

He’s giving you shit because 3-3-4 isn’t a real alignment. Its 3-3-5 ya dingus

Buschini needs a game ball today. Absolutely got left out to dry on 2 blocks, still punted well in major pain, and hit a beautiful throw on the fake that should have turned into a scoring drive.

HIs 69 yard punt iced the game .. one hell of an effort today from him especially with him getting his ass kicked in the 1st quarter ..
