Baseball Official 2026 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread

I was told by an MLB scout that at USA Baseball testing he popped a 40+ inch vertical and almost 12 foot Broad jump. To put the broad jump into perspective, the longest broad jump ever at the NFL combine is 12 foot 3 inches.
We had a CF in college who ran a 6.67 and jumped 37" and that was enough athleticism to get him drafted out of d3.

A 6.6 time for Jeter is major league base stealer speed and with that kind of explosion i bet he has a rocket for an arm too.

Rocket armmm, throwin’ out his foes on his own🎶

We have guys who are sloooooow to the plate, might not matter when they pitch.

Yeesh… if what @HuskerBaseball is saying is true about a long spring, our RPI could make it even harder if we don’t pick up any early season dubs in Out of Conference schedule Which in the Big ten is probably pretty normal.

I can't find a loss

I would absolutely love to be wrong but IMO this roster is extremely hit or miss. Top of the B1G or bottom in my eyes.
I see lots of strikeout potential and zero team speed after the projected top 3 in lineup. Defense won't be strong either to help the staff.

Lots of frustrating 5-3 and 6-4 losses because we cant bunt or take 90 feet consistently ( Steals or first to third etc ) mixed with poor defensive range makes me see a hit 2-3 homers to win type of team

We'll have plenty of high quality games remaining to make up for the first 10 games (toughest stretch of the season)...

Q1 = 11
Q2 = 18
Q3 = 14
Q4 = 9 (5 different teams)
4 games opening weekend are missing *

23, even up to 27, Q3/Q4 is perfect. Just can't afford to lose too many in each Quad to keep a good enough RPI.

Huskers
2025 = total of 31 Q3/Q4 opponents and ended with a 53 RPI
2024 = total of 29 Q3/Q4 opponents and ended with a 29 RPI
2023 = total of 40 Q3/Q4 opponents and ended with a horrible RPI
2022 = total of 35 Q3/Q4 opponents and ended with, well, fuck 2022
2021 = total of 33 Q3/Q4 opponents (all B1G) and ended with a 30 RPI

Totally agree here. Wish they would have brought Silva back (or maybe he didn't want to come back?) Home Runs are great but even better with runners on base.
