Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread (5-8) - Huskers Rebound, May Win Out

You shouldn't share stuff like this. You wouldn't like it if it was your son.
Let me ask you a question...because I often wonder about this stuff.

Is there harm done to MM by what HD posted? It's not like it's information that won't come out one way or another?

I mean this respectfully, I really do.

I'm a huge fan of MM myself and consider him probably the most valuable player on the team, so this is certainly heartbreaking.

Kumar Rocker and Scott Boras refused the medical before the draft. He got taken 12th overall by the Mets. When they looked at his medicals the slot money they were going to give him dropped through the floor and he didn’t end up signing.

At some point MM will be asked why he didn’t pitch this year and it’s going to be very hard to sell the idea that nothing is wrong.

That's even farther than I see it. The only thing HD posted was it might end his season. It's going to be super public knowledge if he is in fact injured for the season long before any MLB type stuff plays in to it

DM's sent.

I was told we would be good

We have 6 Regional appearances since 2010. Yes, 6 in 15 seasons.

Record first 3 weekends v final
2014 started 5-5, ended 41-21
2016 started 3-6, ended 37-22
2017 started 3-6, ended 35-22
2019 started 4-6, ended 32-24
2021 started 7-4, ended 34-14 (all B1G schedule, no non-conf)
2024 started 7-3, ended 40-22

Without Mac, I see no path to hosting a Regional. This offense is experienced enough to carry the team . We'll see if it clicks and happens, or it'll be a very long off-season...

There is really no need to continue on with a baseball program.
Going to the big 10 was a death sentence, they’ll be “good” once every few years. But with the scholarship changes you’ll have most all sec, big 12, acc, and other southern schools offering 34 full ride scholarships next year.
Big 10 won’t be able to compete with that, those teams will horde more players depleting the talent pool Nebraska and other big 10 teams currently pull from.

It’s time to pivot and surrender baseball as a southern only college sport much like they have with hockey.

With all the changes coming to college athletics when can we seriously look into cutting the baseball program to reallocate funds?

Rosters cut to 34, so SEC teams will horde more players? 😂 🥔

Laying it on too hard, try less next time.

Shit man, with the way our basketball team is playing I’m ready to fold that program and put that freed up money into baseball. A men’s program that has actually won a couple of recent conference championships….. that being said though I like baseball as a sport in general WAYYYYY more than basketball. The only basketball I watch of any kind is Nebraska.

I do really hope that we start going to 34 scholarships at some point. I am skeptical it's going to happen quickly.

That should be a bare minimum to compete.
