Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread (5-8) - Huskers Rebound, May Win Out

33 of our 40 boys pay to attend Nebraska.

Hold up, this is very misleading and lacks context.

27 is the max number of players that can receive scholarship money (non NIL). This is an NCAA rule. It's irrelevant what players 28-40 do or don't get & that's not just at Nebraska - it's across 90% of college baseball. (All but 1 in SEC, majority of ACC, some B12 & that's pretty much it).

Obviously this changes for the 2025-2026 season where 34 is the max roster limit & the NCAA is allowing 34 scholarships.

27 is the max number of players that can receive scholarship money directly from a school. This is an NCAA rule. I assume he was implying that 7 dudes are on full rides? Or am I wrong?

I am saying 7 Families don't pay to attend Nebraska.
Baseball money, Academic money, Academic grants, NIL etc.
its a rough estimate but its pretty damn close. some may pay 2,000, some may pay 10,000, but roughly 33 of 40 families are paying something.

So since this is as good a place as any to talk about this -

Last night I was bored and my son was at his mom’s. So I decided to work on my fantasy baseball team. I’m in quite the serious league with keepers, auctions, contracts, money, etc.

I took 4 years of our league data and scoring rules and had ChatGPT analyze and tell me which metrics are the key indicators of success.

From there I plugged in all players, baseball savant, and fangraphs and had it create me projections for those key metrics based on several metrics and give me tiers of players.

Then I plugged in salary information and I have created essentially my entire internal analytics department for fantasy baseball.

I regret no part of it.

I fleeced (not exactly but I like to think so) someone both @PonyBoy and I know for Jordan Westburg. My internal analytics department suggests he’s in for a year in which he improves even more from his all-star year last year.

Does the Christo bullpen experiment end now and he moves to the weekday starter?

I'm out on Drew. Whatever he gives us, in whatever role, is a bonus.

I like Jasa a lot. He was the victim of some really strange calls when I saw him on the weekend as well.

Big fan of Jasa, Blach, Ercanacion, etc. We have some lights out arms in the freshmen class...

What have you seen from him that makes you think he needs MORE innings?
The only success he’s had was as a starter at the beginning of last year. Maybe another ‘change of scenery’ would jumpstart him again. Team is in desperate need of SPs after the last two weekends so why not try it?

You have a valid point. He had several okay starts last season then conference season started and he went to shit as a starter.

Heading in to regionals, 5 of his last 6 or 7 bullpen appearances were pretty solid. Going off of memory so if I'm off, be nice. Ha!

Who was the third arm we brought in Christo and Hood’s year from Bell West? Turns out he was far and away the best.
