Their biggest fuck up was not drafting an insurance policy guy in the last two rounds. They got the #11 pick the following season in 2022 (Rocker was #10).How shitty of a front office do you have to have to not sign as many draft picks as the Mets have. Not signing 2 in the first 10 rounds in 2 years is unacceptable.
If I’m a front office guy you better be damn sure that the guys you’re taking in the first 10 rounds are kids that will sign. Can’t afford to lose those picks.

Also since they shrank the draft and have a slotted bonus pool money in the first 10 rounds plenty of teams don’t sign 1 of their Rounds 6-10 guys now. A lot of those guys are high upside guys or SRs where they can sign for under slot to pay their 1st and 2nd rounders. Jaxon was also drafted by the Dodgers after south mountain in the 14th. My guess is there is some sort of background red flag that isn’t readily available to the scouts until after the draft.

Thats assuming he was offered a contract after backgroundsIn hindsight, he should've signed with LA as he had the chance to. Can't say the same with the Mets.
With the new rules of now going over bonus pool money you can lose draft positioning and or picks. The Rays didnt sign their second rounder Tyler Bell (went to Kentucky) this past year because they would have gone over their pool money. There’s not been too many years where the Braves haven’t signed all of their guys. Maybe I’m guilty of not looking at all teams close enough. If you’re using a pick on him in the first 10 rounds you have to sign him.
But I feel you’re right with there being some background red flag that’s not available until after you take a longer look.

Swanny letting that ball drop in T1. JFC man, brutal.
