Baseball Official 2025 Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Baseball Thread - (33-29) - BACK TO BACK BIG TEN CHAMPIONS

@HuskerBaseball @PonyBoy

Any clue who our starting pitchers are projected to be?
just a Guess on Sept 29th

Horn- Friday
Katzkee-Saturday
TBD- Sunday

I hope hope hope Jasa takes a job but I dont know whats in Rob's head for him.

Closer is wide open as well.

Blachowicz has the stuff for Sunday but needs to be consistent.
Mannell could be Sunday or closer
Cooper Grace ( Freshman) could surprise out of pen.
Worthley is healthy again but wont start because Clark and Cleavinger gave up 5 of the 10 runs Saturday and Rob isnt going into weekends without a Lefty in the pen.
Nowazcyk hasnt looked good in the fall
Timmerman needs surgery

So 7 upperclassmen, 1 sophomore who played a lot last year, and one talented true freshman.

C - Worthley (freshman)
1B - Sanderson (junior)
2B - Buck (senior)
SS - Carey (senior)
3B - Overbeek (senior)
LF - Jesske (junior)
CF - Nunez (sophomore)
RF - Buettenback (junior)
DH - Kitchens (senior)
There is a Left handed hitting Junior Catcher ( Miller) who will catch some, Newhan is a bat first guy who might crack some playing time. Hasnt looked good in the infield, learning the outfield. Nunez cant throw the ball 90 feet right now and shouldnt be out there in CF. Mac Moyer is a good CF but lets see if he hits, Worthley has also been playing CF in scrimmages but that may be more to do with lack of outfielders healthy or being on the same team as Miller and both cant catch at the same time.

Should we be concerned about this pitching staff

Katskee/Horn fighting for Friday and I'd give a slight edge to Katskee just based off experience/success. Too early in fall to predict the Sunday guy.

Should we be concerned about this pitching staff

Not yet, no.

We have a legit Friday/Saturday start to the weekend. We haven't had this since 2021. Rob has quite a few young, powerful & exciting arms in the stable.

Katzkee is pitching better this fall but i will bet my house there is no way Rob is taking Horn off of Friday.

Pitching is hard to predict 6 months out, a kid moves his fingers two inches on the ball or changes an arm slot and BOOM, hes in the mix.

I know you were probably talking about going into the season but the Sears and Mac 1-2 is head and shoulders above Horn/Katzkee

Correct, going in to the season.

Their (Sears/Mac) season results were off the charts & the best 1-2 under Bolt so far.

Probably best place for this as its College Baseball related but not Husker baseball related. Anyone hearing Tony Vitello (Vols HC) maybe a top target for SF Giants manager ** vacancy?
