Now folks can understand WTF I've been talking about for several weeks. There's a lot of faith/trust families are putting in to our coaches.

A key 2-year starter will be in the portal, anticipated by sometime Friday.

Ok, 1 down. Expect Bolin to be next. I don’t expect any other returning starter to enter. @HuskerBaseball ?
Damn Bolin would suck. His numbers were average but he seemed to bring an emotional spark that the team was missing at the beginning of the year. Played a damn good RF too.

By my count I only have 5 position players returning total.

I asked about returning position starters. Guys with no or very few plate appearances and bullpen catchers are irrelevant to me.

Seeing if this matches with you.

Returning - Buettenback, Jesske, Sanderson, Nunez

Possibilities - Stokes, Overbeek, Silva (? due to Bolin)

Portal - Brumbaugh, Cymbalista, Sundgren, Frost, Lewis, Bolin, Cotton

MLB - Carey

Done - Stone, Silva (?)

We arent getting even half that s

Bolin is gone , Hopefully they bring Silva Back

So for clarification... B1G is not restricting how many scholarships can be fully funded, that is a decision made by each athletic department? And if it's the latter, we chose to not get anywhere close to the 30 number Bolt was hoping for?

There isn't a final answer from the B1G yet. It's expected soon, whatever the heck that means.

18 was the number our staff was told by Dannen the athletic department will fund. And our staff felt good about the 18 number, where 1890 can step in to help fund more.

I'm glad our staff feels good about it... It just doesn't feel right that there will be teams out there able to fully fund close to twice as many baseball scholarships as us AND do their NIL dollars.

Take what we get I suppose.

They shouldn’t feel good about it…… regardless of how we felt about Bolt the middle of this season, winning three conference championships in five years I would think he would have earned being one of the best funded programs in the BIG.
At this point though, like you said, take what we get…..

I'm torn on what the AD should do here. On one hand I would really like to fund full baseball scholarships. I think the program is worth it.

But on the other hand, Football is the most important thing. If we don't get that right and back to a higher tier it puts a lot of risk on the AD and our leverage as the system continues to evolve. So that would probably be my full focus with both time and money.

The football team winning 9 or 10 games would really help to solidify everything that is happening so we can feel good going forward on all our investments.

I’ve come to a few conclusions:

1) Nebraska doesn’t give a fuck about baseball

2) Will Bolt has done a fantastic job

3) Lance Harvell identifying under the radar talent might be one of the most underrated portions of this program. To be able to find guys like we have and actually get them drafted is something very commendable

4) We will lose this coaching staff at some point to a school that cares more about baseball. Bolt has been promised a lot and no AD has come through for him

@PonyBoy @HuskerBaseball - What can be done about any of this? Or are we just fucked?

Wasn’t there a recent OWH article interviewing Dannen where he talked about doing some baseball facilities upgrades? Hopefully he does come through with them unlike the previous ADs with their un-kept promises like you mentioned.

While I respect what you’re saying and football is king and there’s zero denying that. I’m not sure we truly have to choose here.

The difference per year to get from 18 scholarships to 34 is about 500k. Sorry, but that’s not asking much.
