There’s pretty much no reason to worry about Walsh tonight. He’s getting some ridiculous swings. That strikeout there is what we call a “sword” meaning that the batter resembled a guy swinging a sword with one hand and not a baseball player.
Walsh’s Chase rate tonight is probably ridiculous if that stat was kept.

Runner at second gets fooled on an inside move and the threat is done.

Second operational error today from Nebraska as I’m counting the strike out/throw out as a missed sign as I can’t for the life of me think why we’d do that. I think Nunez on the one I’m talking about missed the “take” sign as he swung through a ball in the dirt.

I think the Huskers wanted to put the runner in motion to see if Washington would throw all the way down to second and if they did we could steal a run with the runner on 3rd coming home. But again, Nunez swung through a ball clearly out of the zone.
^ this is my best guess on what happened. I’m not saying I for sure know.

Washington starter has lost some velo on his fastball -
Brumbaugh was waiting for the fastball that’s lost some life from previous innings and he hits one out for a two run bomb.
Frost follows him and hits a ball that should have landed safely for a hit. But Washington had their 2B playing in shallow left.
I’d be surprised if Washington doesn’t go to the bullpen now.

So it should be two down and nobody on base. Or at worst, one down and one one base.

Third time through the order is a struggle at every level with pitchers. I’m not surprised someone finally hit Walsh.
I agree with you that the pitch was too fat for 0-2. I’d have probably went high and away, or back foot breaking ball.

And as luck would fucking have it, Carey strikes out after a failed bunt and we hit into a double play. Husker threat is over.
I question why Carey is bunting with the 8th and 9th place hitters coming up. But that doesn’t negate the fact that was his job and he simply couldn’t do it.
That’s the frustrating part with this team. Little things like this.

Jasa has 98 in the tank and from that over the top delivery with his long frame it gets on people quick. He simply couldn’t find the zone tonight and his evening is over.
