Yep but there’s always the outside chance that a couple of the remaining conferences outranks one of them. I think that would be very rare
I thought it was top 4 conference champs. Top 4 is just for the bye. 5th conference still guaranteed to get in was my misunderstanding.

Boise State will be ahead of anyone in the Big 12 that's not undefeated BYU.

I can't imagine a 2nd Big 12 team getting in. Even if BYU loses the championship game.

I think there’s a real possibility that Boise State gets the 4th bye seed.

If Army wins out they would be the 5th conference. Big 12 out. They'll have to beat Notre Dame so unlikely but it's possible.

Wouldn’t three BIG teams stay ahead of Boise if OSU wins out with a win over Oregon and Indiana and PSU have one loss?

Possibly yes. But they can’t get an automatic bye. Only conference champions can get one of the four seeded byes.

I also I don’t like that rule. Put the top 4 teams in regardless of conference. I would rather AI or a computer pick the teams than the committee though.

There’s never going to be a perfect situation. Year to year there will always be controversy. I was totally pissed last year when Liberty got slotted to the Fiesta Bowl. No way they should have jumped other teams.

I get that but most college football committees regarding the playoff have some people who don’t deserve to be on there plus humans show too much bias to certain conferences and programs.

There's a selection committee of humans though. You think they'll leave out the cash $$ ratings option (Colorado)?

They don't have a choice for the top 5. There's 7 other teams that will clearly have better resumes and at least most will be bigger for ratings or as good as. Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio St, etc

Gotcha.

The interesting thing is SEC guy has so much power in CFB and SEC Guy don't GAF about CU and has no respect for them. And doesn't want to watch them on TV.

FOX and ESPN would love to have them in the 12 team field though. I still contend that I will be shocked if the Big 12 champion is left out (if they are 11-2 or better).

I would imagine the Big 12 Champion is BYU and with 1 loss at worst. They won't have any problem getting in.

If they lose in the championship game though that will be interesting.

Watching some MACtion and I learned that Blaine Gabbert’s youngest brother is Miami (OH)’s starting QB.
