They do have a closer, one that's been inconsistent & unavailable last night. That's fine but don't list 6 guys where 3 of them are unavailable, a 4th walked 2 and hit 1 in an inning of work a week ago and the other 2 are true freshmen. I can just hear it now, one of the two true freshmen were brought in, didn't get the job done and it's the same discussion. Captain hindsight is king with sports.
Context matters? How about have an idea before responding:
Cade Lommel, who had the 15+ ERA, didn't throw the last 2 innings. He threw 1 out in the 3rd, the 4th, 5th & 6th. So what we did against 2 different pitchers in the 8th & 9th inning, is absolutely irrelevant. Servais went with an experienced arm that has struggled in every outing this year (8 H, 13 BB/HBP in 4 2/3 IP) and he threw strikes. What a different that makes!
Speaking of context, Sears' last 2 outings his BAA is .333 with 4 punches, 1 BB, in 2 innings of work. Context works both ways, not just to fit your argument.
