Our averages vs. p4 opponents with would be national rank in parenthesis.

PPG: 28.3 (56th)
YPG: 322 (112th
YPPoint: 11.35 (11th)
YPPlay: 4.71 (118th)

Michigan State might be a wake up call. That was a defense Dana should’ve carved up, especially with two weeks to prepare. No resounding hot takes yet, but a trend line is forming and it’s not good. Lay another egg offensively against Maryland and it should have our attention.

Are the national averages what’s making you guys mad? I get that. Focus on the average, not the ranking.
1. Why put the ranking in if you don't want to use that to your point?

2. Those averages aren't as atrocious as you're trying to make them out to be. In fact, its all relative and if you did this exercise with all P4 teams, Nebraska’s rankings would probably be fairly favorable.

Again, not the brilliant thread idea you thought it was.

I don’t understand the point of this. It’s a dumb comparison.
The point is to see how our stats look against like competition. The national average is just a reference.
Also, we did carve them up when we weren’t going against a 30 mph wind.
We had the wind in the 1st quarter and 4th quarter and had 141 yards of offense combined. That’s not carving it up. Offense did score 24 points, but they’re skewed. we started the 4th quarter mid drive on their 22 yard line and had another drive start on their 17.

28 PPG is all that really matters, and that’s plenty good to win 9 games. 322 YPG and 4.71YPP is not.

We also had super short fields and barely had the ball in the first quarter.

That was because of starting position. We had one possession in the first quarter and scored. We had four in the fourth (not counting the final) and scored 17. One punt.

But the numbers are meaningless without comparing to national average. You have quite the catch 22 going.
