Sign Up Now!Looks great! How much does a bottle cost?I love fall weather, CFB, and Halloween. So October might be my favorite month of the year all things considered. When times are good, there's all the more reason to day drink.
I'm having a pretty damned nice 1973 Petite Champagne Cognac from Jean-Luc Pasquet.

Thanks for the info!As a general matter, you get much better value with Cognac, Armagnac, and certain rums than you do with whisk(e)y these days--and I'm a huge malt whisky guy. So while I think I'm probably still whisk(e)y first, I've become much more interested in those spirits recently.
This particular Cognac comes in a 500 ml bottle, so take that into account, but it originally retailed for between $150-180. Any scotch of a comparable vintage bottled today, even if it's from a shitty distillery, will run you at least three times that and oftentimes ten times or more.
I actually paid a little more than that, because I had to snag one of these at auction due to some good reviews leading to the stock being snapped up. The nice thing is that even though that happened here, it took longer than it does for either bourbon or scotch. Anytime someone high profile gives a good review there, you're fighting to get a hand on a bottle almost instantly. I just got to this one way too late--it's a 2019 bottling. In any event, I paid 190 GBP plus a 10% hammer price and shipping. All-in-all, not so bad.
There are other bottlings in this "L'esprit de Famille" series by Pasquet that are widely available still on the net. Plus, there are other bottlers who have some really great stuff that tend to appeal to whisk(e)y drinkers. Vallein-Tercinier is probably chief among them.

i LOVE a good Octoberfest beer, including Sam Adams Octoberfest. There. I said it. Now I'll go fuck myself.
Girlfriend got me something nice but won't tell me what. We have to go pick it up at the airport after work. For those that don't know, there aren't any alcohol stores in my town. There is a restaurant allowed to serve beer and wine but that's it. To order beer/liquor/wine you need to complete a pdf and send it into a liquor store in Anchorage. They then ship it back a few days later. Freight is pretty expensive and there is a limit to how much you can order each month.
Post office currently prohibits the shipment of alcohol. No fed ex here and it's sketchy at best to send something out using UPS which prohibits me from doing beer exchanges and things of that nature. I brew beer so that helps significantly. Typically I would just stock up on liquor and bring it back on Alaska Air but there's a current 14 day quarantine if I leave the region since the local BIA hospital doesn't deem teachers as essential workers. What's the rule of friends and relatives mailing you booze? I mean outside of usual laws

I'm not dry by any means but the good stuff is hidden if company comes over.
I notice whenever I'm buying bottles from British and Dutch shops, which is how I get the vast majority of my bottles, many of them will say they ship to Alaska, but only to Anchorage. I always found that interesting.

Yeah - it’s super weird how he lives.Your lifestyle fascinates me.
I wish I was that fancy. We have a hole out back. Got some King Street Oktoberfest today and it's pretty good if you haven't tried it yet.Yeah - it’s super weird how he lives.
I heard he even has a honey pot.

Nah we are on tank water. I think we get 600 gallons delivered every week for about 300 a month but don't quote me on that. Only two neighborhoods, maybe a 1/4 of the people, have piped water but the pipes are pretty old so it stains everything a urine yellow eventually.I have not tried it.
I will tomorrow though.
And really? Outhouse?
what breweries?Got a couple of growlers from Alaska. Pretty good stuff you guys got up there.
