NSAA votes for 3rd 8-Man Class

There's a school we tried to coop with (that we have a good relationship with) and they said absolutely not. They would rather drop to 6 man than coop with another school. I think it's the fear of losing their identity or something, but it is going to happen more and more in the future.

It's the peaked in high school folk still living there.

I have brought this up on other message boards, and there are posters associated with two schools who get so upset about the recommendation:

- Stuart High School which plays 6 man football- 9 miles from West Holt High School
- McCool Junction which played 6 man for years - 7 miles south of York.


It is completely illogical for those schools to even exist.

I went to West Holt. It’s mainly the people in Stuart that don’t want to coop. Most people in Atkinson don’t care. I’m not 100% sure because I’m not that old but the story I always heard was the Stuart community was pissed that we built the school in Atkinson and not somewhere between the towns in the 70s. It gets even worse, not only will they not coop but they just renovated the school with like $4 million.

Actually usually when they play Nebraska teams they play 11 & 9 man in the same game. When I was in school, our JV would play Gregory every year. Whoever was on offense, dictated how many men were on the field.

Same out west when we play jv against Wyoming schools.
