Coming out of electric weekend, Nebraska leads for several weekend visitors

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule and the Huskers didn’t get the results they were looking for on the field on Saturday night in a 21-17 loss to No. 23 USC.
But the recruits on campus, particularly in the 2027 class, taking in an electric environment feel like the Huskers are close to winning big games like this one and competing for championships.
Rhule and his staff feel like the prospects they had in the stands are the guys that can restore glory in Lincoln.
Rivals has the latest.
“The environment was off the charts last night,” Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor said. The Rivals Industry tabs him as the nation’s No. 3 quarterback in the 2027 class. “Again have been to some big games around the country and the Nebraska fan base and student body Is special. Last night was one of the most electric I’ve been at for a game.”
Taylor is the jewel of a 2027 class Rivals already ranks No. 5 nationally.
“My favorite thing about Nebraska are the people in that building and the community that supports Husker football. (The year) 2027 is a long way from now and the support I get from fans, players and coaches is just amazing. Nebraska with me is simple I’m all N. I have shut down my recruitment, Coach Rhule is locked in until I’m gone, it’s all about Nebraska for me. Me getting myself physically ready and me helping with recruiting.”
Uncommitted players on campus were buzzing about the Huskers. That begins with five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson.
“Just how they have a family feeling,” Hudson said. “Being at Nebraska feels like I’m in Ruston, Louisiana. They are one of my top schools and they are at the very top.”
Hudson elaborated on why Nebraska is at the very top.
“Just communication,” he said. Hudson also spoke with colleague Sam Spiegelman. “I’m heavy on that. The team that they are currently building from commits to players already on the team. Shows they are heading in the right direction.”
The Huskers are a front-runner for four-star receiver Tay Ellis.
“Nebraska definitely made a strong impression on me,” Ellis said. “My favorite things are the atmosphere, the fanbase, and how real the coaches are. The energy in that stadium is something you can’t really describe until you experience it is different. As far as where they stand, Nebraska is definitely a high number one on my list. From the staff to Coach Shorts, Keith (Williams), Coach Rhule and Coach Holgorsen are all showing me a lot of love, and I can see myself fitting in with what they’re building out there.”
Beyond leading for Hudson and Ellis, it looks like Nebraska is in pole position for Rivals300 tight end Cooper Terwilliger.
Nebraska had some terrific offensive linemen on campus.
“My favorite things about the game last night was getting to meet Coach Donnie’s family after the game last night,” Rivals300 recruit Jake Hildebrand said. “It was so much fun getting to know them and getting to see how happy Coach Donny’s was after the game and got to see his family. Another great thing was the fans they were so into the game and were all standing the whole game never giving up on there team which was special.
“They are high on my list.”
Rivals300 cornerback Jerry Outhouse was one of the elite players on campus.
“Nebraska was great,” Outhouse said. “My favorite thing was the fans. They were yelling my name when I walked by them on the field. ‘Welcome home Jerry, your home Jerry,’ that was pretty cool and a first. The weather was good. I like how all the players had each others back. Nebraska moved up in my recruiting process and I will be back to Lincoln.”

With Raiola done for the year, most people are going to call this season a wash. Get to 8 wins, 9 with a bowl victory and momentum will be solid still.
