Notre Dame

I've spelled this out on other sites previously, but if Notre Dame joins a conference fully it won't be the B1G, it will be the ACC. The reason is that they are a religiously affiliated school, and there are NO other schools in the B1G that are. The ACC conversely consists of several other schools who are: Boston College (which is another Jesuit school like ND), Duke, Wake Forest, SMU and Stanford offers PHD's and lower degrees in religion and divinity.

The reason that this is important to these schools is that they need to feel that their choices of religion are not going to simply be out-voted by secular schools.

It is simply never going to happen that ND will join the B1G for that reason alone.
Was this opinion formed before the Notre Dame vs. ACC feud of the last couple of days and apparent impending divorce between the two?
Because the reason we’re taking about ND joining another conference is because they’re pissed at the ACC.

Despite whatever window dressing they try to put on it to explain away their self serving decisions, Notre Dame values dollars more than deity.

If they can work a deal with another conference, especially a conference that throws around the kind of money the B1G does, they’ll do it. The B1G wasn’t willing to let the Domers decide which sports they’d play in conference and which would not. I don’t think that changes, but the Domers might reconsider the B1G now. Let’s face it, the ACC has slipped and is considered a lesser conference. Maybe that changes in the future, but they’re still at best the #3 conference in the sport that matters.

Pissed at the ACC + B1G has more money = Something Notre Dame will seriously take a look at.

You know what I would say to ND?

“Go fuck yourself”

The are burning up any good will they had by seeking and getting special treatment because they are Special Good Boys.

ACC does have another Catholic school already; Boston College. It is also a Jesuit school just like Notre Dame.

I don’t think this matters one bit anymore. Maybe 5-10 years ago, but not now. Remember the “brothers” are just as big of ND football fans as anyone. They know money and access to the playoffs are the only things that matter. They’re not stupid, no way in heaven or hell they would stop ND from doing what’s best for the football team (whatever that ends up being) so they can partner up with one other Jesuit school. (Boston College) They can schedule BC or any other Jesuit school in the non-con if they want or as an independent.

Brothers?

Notre Dame will be in the Big Ten eventually, we just have to kill the ACC first. That is just a matter of time. The Big Ten will get some combo of Notre Dame, FSU, Miami, UNC, Virginia and the SEC will get their cut. Then we will breakoff and have two conference running the show. I suppose ND could join the SEC, lol. Those stubborn SOBs just might do it to spite the Big Ten.
