that the top 2 teams in the nation hired guys that had zero head coaching experience. The #4 team in the nation hired a guy with a losing record at the P5 level. #5 team’s coach had zero P5 HC experience before being hired. #9 teams coach had zero coordinator experience when hired. And the #12 teams coach was hired with zero coordinator experience.

The auto correct to mandatory "optimism" in people's brains is already kicking in. i respect you a great deal, but I will not get excited by which ever coach TO forces Turd to hire knowing we could/should have had better. If Rhule isnt announced Sunday I'm done. If we end up with a Nebraska ties lower tier coach I'm done. In that scenario I'm not capable of the self delusion required to continue supporting this shit show of power struggles at the expense of the program.

What is their proximity to recruiting hot spots? Even frost was able to win a national championship once when he was in a location with better talent.

I wouldn't quite call Rhule a dream hire. But I'm not sure if there even IS such a thing as a dream hire, looking at guys like Jimbo Fisher at A&M.

In the end, all an AD can really do is take their best shot at picking a guy, and (hopefully) don't be stupid with the contract.

I'm getting close to throwing it in also. Too much frustration with the people controlling our athletic department. My whole life I've been so emotionally invested in the Huskers. If our leadership can't hire a proven winning respected coach with all of our financial resources and conference then I'm taking things down a few notches until we are back being a Top 10 program. I'm done with this failing mindset of being conservative financially and hiring with Husker ties. If they don't open the check book and get us the best coach that will come to Nebraska then I'll find something else to spend my free time closely following. GBR

In truth the only reason I became an elite member was because of the certainty that it would be Rhule. No reflection on this board or the people associated with it but if things go as badly as its sounding I'll save my money and time and make this a very casual visit on rare occasion. I was ready to check out a week ago. Basketball is a shit show. Baseball doesn't look promising....what do we have? Not a fucking thing. Come Sunday if there is no announcement I'm not going to waste my time.
