Football NIL Discussion

If I was worth billions would I give college football players millions per year? I would probably buy houses for them to live in. I'm not sure I'd just pay them 6 figures on top of everything they're getting if I'm being honest.

I also don't complain about other people not giving enough. I just don't think we have a wealthy enough fanbase/corporate connection to be really competitive. We have enough to be top 25. Not top 10.

I can’t imagine giving several million a year. Every single year to a college for a bunch of kids with the amount of money from ads and tv contracts coming into the schools.

They need to a complete overhaul of the system.

As long as the popularity of the sport continues to be off the charts nothing will change. A person can argue actors get paid way too much and they'd be right but we love to be entertained.

Agree. This is all in the courts so no way to reel it back in. The NCAA needs contracts and a commish like the NFL to try to level everything out otherwise there will continue to be top spenders who will consistently compete for championships while most others will not.

NIL is fine, Its not Texas, A&M, or OSU, but its probably right there with OU, Michigan etc.

My take, Nebraska actually had a very successful transfer class, we just whiffed on offensive tackle. ON DL, Rhule was too confident in DL development with the young guys. Most of those guys seem like they are year away. Should have made DL a priority.

Nwaneri was portal. Wouldn't say whiffed. Needed more though.

Ok, let me phrase what I've been saying a different way and by asking a question...

So do you think we have the same amount of NIL as Michigan, who won a national title in the NIL era, but our head coach is at the podium telling us we need to give more with the below quote after going 5-7 and 6-6?

"In a world of $30 million and $40 million rosters, which isn't going away, I'd like us to do the same thing. There's sort of like a, 'Hey, that's not really the Nebraska way.' I'd like it to be. I'd like to invest. I'd like to be at the front of everything." - Matt Rhule

There's absolutely no way that we have as much NIL as Michigan. Anyone thinking that we do isn't looking at their ability to bring in transfers and extremely high profile recruits.

Ya, that's why I was confused he referenced them as us having similar to Michigan, so I asked the question.

Not what this thread is about, but I am not an AI hater but I truly believe this is accurate.

There's two OBVIOUS parallels that I think we can all agree on.

1) Autocorrect has made us worse spellers. I know for me that's an absolute fact.
2) Google Maps and navigation help has made us less able to remember how to get places

I'm not saying either of those are bad, they're not. Just that it's crazy how the brain re-wires itself because it learns it doesn't have to store that information.

You don't give millions a year as a billionaire, you set funds aside and give then the interest annually. Make the money work for you. That's what id do. So again Warren is a Lil bitch.
Same thing brother. I could be investing it in my business or insider trade on the stock market with one of my buddies businesses thats about to have a big announcement.

Yeah, endowment funds are what you're looking for. Put $50M in the bank, the interest all goes to the school (though I'd keep some to let the amount grow every year).

$50M at 7% is $3.5M, donate $3M add the other $.5M for growth. Rinse repeat.

I could tell you everyone's phone number as a kid. I barely know my wife's number. Couldn't tell you my kids with certainty.
