"Next year the goal is the CFP"

This kids schtick is growing tired. You want to go to the CFP? Quit missing wide open touchdowns. Quit making 1-2 absolutely brain dead throws every game. He’s got to double his touchdowns and cut in half his turnovers if we want to sniff the CFP.

What shtick ?

I get why other fans would dog on DR but I don’t get the hate from our own fanbase

We get what we want and we complain.

Dylan just broke a bunch of freshman Nebraska records despite having the worst OC we’ve probably ever had and we get upset.

Teams that had their first winning season since 2016 don’t get to be upset with how we got there.

Just won the first CFB bowl game in about it a decade. So once every 10 years seems fair right now

Offense needs to average 10 more pts a game next year. To do that Dylan needs, at a minimum, to add a td pass/game. He needs to cut his turnovers in half. So that’s a 25/7 td int ratio, and eliminate the fumbles. He needs to improve by 84% next year. Thats a huge leap.
It’s great that you’re able to state this with such confidence, considering it’s all just requirements that you’ve made up in your head.

What does the offense need to average 10 points more next season in order to do?

Well, if our goal is to get to the CFP we need to score more points next year.

Nebraska scored 22.7 ppg in 2024. 98th nationally

10 more points a game would be 32.7 ppg which would be 30th nationally.

Keep the defense in the top 40 (23ppg) and fix your special teams and you have a path to 9-3/10-2.

He’s cringe but he’s *our* cringe, is that what you’re saying?

If he played for Cockeye this board would have an entire section dedicated to making fun of him, so let’s not act like you don’t understand it.

I don’t mind the cringey stuff or Patrick Mahomes cosplay so much. I do notice some red flags on sideline behavior and the way his teammates respond to him. Running around yankee stadium alone while his teammates celebrated on the field for instance.

At the end of the day, I see such a small snippet of those interactions it’s not fair for me to judge his leadership skills or how he’s perceived in the locker room, but I have my reservations about it.

So I’ll stick to the basics. He needs to produce at a much higher level going forward. He’s getting paid top 5-10 money in the country, so Nebraska should expect to get what they pay for. Everyone’s expectations for him next year are very high, and they should be.

He was a freshman given the world. Next year it wont matter and he'll be a vet.
