I might actually watch a survival show on Dean. I say show because im not too sure the dude could last even a few hours in the sticks. In that time he probably gets lost, brings up he was a cub scout but had to leave early on navigation day, trips while jumping a log and then taps out after spilling his water.

The ending credits of the show is probably deab laughing eating some chicharrones on a bench at orange theory discussing how he almost made a 72 hour off grid challenge.

Yeah there's always a flipside to that. Every year there are standout assistants who come out of nowhere to excel for B1G/SEC teams.....and then our fans go "Why can't that be us?? Why can WE never find a diamond in the rough like that???" Yet 90% of our fans would have shit on a Cignetti hire if we got him 3-4 yrs ago. "He's never been a HC in P4!!!" Our fans would have said.

As OP says....you just have to wait a full yr before you can truly evaluate these hires.

Also, I'll remind everyone that when Oregon hired Chip Kelly as OC back in 2007, he had spent the previous 14 seasons as OC at New Hampshire (!!!!!!). An FCS program.

Not everyone comes prep-packaged with your imaginary B1G/SEC body of work that you want in your perfect hypothetical world.

Probably the only HC hiring strategy we haven’t employed…

Solich - Promoted an assistant
Callahan - Failed NFL HC
Pelini - Defensive Coordinator
Riley - Veteran over achiever from another shitty P5 team
Frost - Legacy hire and Offensive Coach/Coordinator
Rhule - Another failed NFL HC but with college experience

Winning HC from a lower level is about the only thing we haven’t tried.

With the lack of rules in NIL I'm not sure what is the best path moving forward is for us.

I almost want to go back to the Osborne offense and spend all the money on the defensive side and load up.
JFK.. or maybe not.

Can we just hire some multi-billionaire to be our head coach? Like, who cares if he knows anything about football if he has 25 billion in the bank. Amirite?
