New Director of Recruiting

I have no doubt this is true. But we are coming off yet another garbage season with a ton of holes in the roster with lots of playing time available for the quitters/processees of other programs. Again.

Cockeyes is coming off a 10 win season and brings back most of their starters. Even if they had a big NIL program I don’t think the results this off-season would be all that different. My god if they could get a decent quarterback.

But I agree with you, Kirk would rather replace his son with a black guy than beg some portal diva to come save the day and be Cockeyes’s hero. Can you imagine him saying “pick me pick me” to a Twitter poll from a players mom
They won 10 games in a year they really shouldn’t have & every time Kirk loses to Purdue, Cockeye fans start talking about his purgatory which they give him no incentive to get out of. The bottom is going to fall out on em eventually cuz he refuses to evolve(didn’t have to the last decade, plus he rarely plays programs like tOSU who can expose their flaws like Michigan did this year). Cockeye rewards him simply for keeping it afloat cuz they don’t want to become Cockeye State & they watch how bad coaching searches are for Nebraska, who they know has more advantages as a program.

NIL will fuck with their bottom line, Kirk’s recruiting pitch to a lot of these players, “we send guys to the league.” NIL adds a measurable variable that he refuses to acknowledge(they are going to pay a flat rate of 10-15k) & the truth is, every recruiting class has maybe 2-3 guys that’ll get to the league & Cockeye targets the kid’s/parents(clester Johnson) who buy into this, “say, do, & think, EVERYTHING I tell ya & you’ll get to the NFL,” but that’s not true for 95% of players so most parents won’t like the risk of passing on an additional 20k per year on a long shot.

We are a shit show but NIL has put Cockeye at a spot where they can’t compete for certain recruits with a program they have beat 7 straight times. Wisconsin & Minnesota have more NIL money & I think theyll be using it. I think Kstate has as much as Cockeye & Kansas may have more. The pool of 2-3 star players they found talent from, will most likely get smaller & Cockeye honestly will want employee status so conferences can level the playing field for em.

Edit: they’ll have a tough time finding & keeping a QB if they refuse to pay em

Name one player both they and us wanted but we beat them out for and I’ll show you four players that chose Cockeye over Nebraska. Maybe this mercenary strategy works out for us but I am highly skeptical. Last time Cockeye played Ohio state they bent them over massaged the prostate. They’ll never win the big ten again like they almost did in 2015 but my god they are exponentially closer than we are.

I haven’t paid attention to recruiting closely enough to give a breakdown on head to head with em. I think it’s probably a lot more even than u think, Fidone, Keagon Johnson, Carnie, Haarberg, & Fant are ones off the top of my head.

All I’m saying, when u factor in money that has a measurable value, it’s a different ball game than what recruiting against them was before & I bet we get Fant if that was the case. Maybe Frost gets fired & all of our boosters bail & none of it plays out over 4-5 years but the landscape is going to change.

Plus the NCAA may be lifting roster limits & that will also be a big blow to Cockeye. One of the advantages they had was schools like Nebraska could only take so many players, now we can pay em more & take as many as we want to make up for the inefficiencies they were kicking our asses on
