I couldn't believe Purdue just said "Fuck It" and is not utilizing NIL. Sounds like a few of the B1G teams are not buying in 100% like Cockeye, Purdue, Illinois and Wisconsin. It's here so might as well utilize it. Doesn't surprise me that Ferentz is all grumpy ole man yelling "Get off of my Yard" about NIL.

This 100%, was at a meeting with a P5 head coach in Texas yesterday and he said Gary Patterson (he’s the head of a College Coach Organization) told them all, “I know this is a pain in all our asses but the NCAA is basically telling everyone that what SMU got the death penalty for is now fair game, if you don’t participate - your program will die”

Ferentz refuses to deal with players who have any leverage, like highly touted recruits so he doesn’t play the recruiting game at all. It’s part of the reason why they’re culture is great in some ways & completely racist in others.

Eno Benjiman, a 4 star RB, committed to Cockeye then went on a visit to ASU or maybe another school, & Cockeye dropped him immediately cuz it’s a sign Ferentz won’t be able to control the kid’s every action or even thought. Whoever that WR was back in the day, KJJ or KPP, put Kirk into the niche where he lives with the desperate 2-3 stars, plus they only have 2mil so they’ll give a flat rate to keep Kirk’s culture rather than upgrade talent.

I have no doubt this is true. But we are coming off yet another garbage season with a ton of holes in the roster with lots of playing time available for the quitters/processees of other programs. Again.

Cockeye is coming off a 10 win season and brings back most of their starters. Even if they had a big NIL program I don’t think the results this off-season would be all that different. My god if they could get a decent quarterback.

But I agree with you, Kirk would rather replace his son with a black guy than beg some portal diva to come save the day and be Cockeye’s hero. Can you imagine him saying “pick me pick me” to a Twitter poll from a players mom

Before NIL, they hunt down as many donors as they could and ask for $1M for a new indoor facility, or whatever they needed to keep up. Now they are going to go to those donors and ask for $1M for a new QB and their facility/infrastructure upgrades will be dependent on the athletic department.

With everything outside of buying players being reliant on Athletic Department budgets, the disparity between the SEC/Big10 and the rest becomes insurmountable for the other conferences.
