New Commit Coming?

Isn't there some rule about playing sports in high school after you turn 19?
There is in Nebraska. Not sure about other states. From the NSAA:

Student is ineligible if nineteen years of age before August 1 of current school year—age 21 for non-contact Unified Sports athletes.(Student in grades 7 or 8 may participate on a high school team if he/she was 15 years of age prior to August 1 of current school year.)

So you can turn 19 during your senior year. You just can't be 19 going into the year.

it would be interesting to ask what the plan is as he has to be 19 before August 1 of senior year from what we know. He would be 19 before his junior year is over

He could very well age out prior to his senior year:

“Student is ineligible if nineteen years of age before August 1 of current school year—age 21 for non-contact Unified Sports athletes. (Student in grades 7 or 8 may participate on a high school team if he/she was 15 years of age prior to August 1 of current school year.)”

So assuming the information is correct that Terry is currently 18 going into his junior year. This year is his last year of football (at North anyway).

Maybe he can move and go to an IMG school next year?

Hope his family has money. IMG is $80K+ a year

I'm sure there's ways. Maybe there's cheaper options too like finding a state that doesn't have that rule.
Good thinking! In Cockeye you cease to be eligible when you turn 20.

If we have our facts straight and his birthday is before August 1, then yes.

But, as the rule states, usually guys that will be in that situation play high school sports in eighth grade. So I am still a little unsure if I believe he will be too old to play as a senior. I mean, it's not like this is a surprise. They would have know all along when he turns 19. I also would think if this was the case, this would be well known and discussed. Seems odd this is the first time we're hearing about it. Instead, we hear about how he can be a four-time wrestling state champ.

Maybe he can take summer classes and graduate a year early. (If OPS allows that. Not all schools do.) Or as you say, play at IMG or some similar prep school. Would his age put him on the post-grad team there? I'm not sure what the rules are with IMG and in Florida.

NSAA by-laws state

Could he claim a learning disability if that is the basis for his being held back?

My grandma was in her 60s in the '80s (She turns 100 next month). She was definitely not listening to 2 Live Crew.

Except for that one colab they did with Glen Miller. She probably caught that one.
Ah yes, a classic! "In The Mood 2 Swallow This Nut".

It sounds like the Terry age thing could be much concern about nothing. I found a post from February which said the family held him back when the OPS season was cancelled because of Covid min 2020. The post said his birthday was late enough - 15 days after the age out date - to prevent this from causing him to be ineligible senior year. So, it sounds like he is 19 August 1 of his senior year and turns 20 in mid-August.

The rule cited above says the important age is 19, not 20.
