Nebrasketball snubbed from NIT

I agree on Walker to an extent - but his game really hinged around being a capable passer (although he had games where he had probably 5-6 turnovers) and his inside game. Outside of that baby hook, he really didn't have much. His FT shooting regressed at an odd level this season and his lack of a 15-18-foot jump shot allowed defense to really pack the lane.
Walker led us in points, rebounds, annnnnd assists this year my good sir. We are going to miss him.

I know he had a terrible game with turnovers late in the year (where even Fred said after the game he was shit haha), but his passing as our main big was incredible.

The lane was also packed because Walk played from the top of the key constantly. We had no one at Threat-Level Midnight down low on O most of the time because of that.

Excited for Blaise on the rebounding next year, but his passing isn’t going to be anywhere near Walker.

The evolution of Fred's offense is going to be finding a 5 who they can run the offense through who is also a threat to shoot open 3s.

I don't remember the lane actually being that bad most of the time. Walker was able to put the ball on the floor around the top of the key and take a guy in to a basically uncontested rim. Same thing with Keisei cutting in under the basket with his guy being the only one there to contest most of the time.

Walker was like an 8/10 for what Fred wants at the 5 with the knocks being shooting generally.

I agree with Walker (especially late in the year) just taking his man from the point to the paint annnnnnd scoring/getting fouled at a high clip.

It was kind of our main offense (at least when we really needed a bucket).

They knew they couldn’t collapse because he’d just kick it out to KT….or Zilcher when he happened to be on that night haha.

And YES, Keisei’s cutting really improved and was there getting layups constantly.

When I say “late in the year” I mean after we got two starters hurt annnnd went on our little run.

It was a realllly fun year for a team that didn’t even make the fucking NIT.

I know we're going to miss him. Sorry - I wasn't trying to insinuate that we're not.

And to Baron's point - the lane wasn't really packed. I was moreso trying to say the main defender on Walker didn't really respect him outside of that baby-hook. To his credit, Walker made some extremely difficult shots seem extremely easy.

I don't really think anything is wrong with the article, but there is important context that a significant chunk of what was lost this year wasn't even on the team at this time last year.

But yeah Year 5 the rubber has to meet the road or it never will
Completely agree. Hopefully Fred can find that same production earlier in the season next year.

To have only one bad loss (yes it happened at the worse time), be playing some of our best basketball at the end of the season (which the committee usually favors I thought) and have plenty of Quad 1 wins and not get an invite to the NIT is just crazy. Especially when you see some of the teams that got in. Would have loved to see the guys play together longer and get the returning guys more playing time.
