Didnt his dad just come out and say things have changed and he wants to go down his own path
According to Robin who spoke directly with him, yes
“The Tar Heels granted his request on Wednesday. That put one of the nation’s top 2023 point guards back on the market.
That news raised some eyebrows around Nebraska. The Huskers were in hot pursuit of the former five-star prospect a couple of years ago. Wilcher took an official visit to Lincoln in the fall of 2021.
Beyond that, though, is the obvious connection with Simeon’s older brother, Nebraska junior guard
C.J. Wilcher. Oh, and the Huskers’ roster also features one of Simeon’s best friends and former Roselle (N.J.) Catholic teammate, sophomore guard
Jamarques Lawrence.
Despite those x-factors, NU had not contacted Simeon or his family as of Wednesday. That’s per his father,
Sergio Wilcher.
During Simeon’s initial recruitment, the Wilchers voiced their interest in C.J. teaming up with Simeon in college. They only played one season together at Roselle Catholic. But C.J. called it one of the best years of his basketball career.
Sergio told HuskerOnline that idea was once a major draw for Simeon to Nebraska. Two years later, though, it was not a defining selling point for where his youngest son ended up next.
“That was definitely intriguing,” Sergio said. “You’d be playing with your brother in college; you’re already comfortable with the environment; he really likes Lincoln as a city, and he has a great relationship with
Fred (Hoiberg).
“But it’s been a couple years now, and you get a little older, and things happen in your life that have changed for him. Now he’s just looking to forge his way. I can’t blame him. He’s always been the little brother, and now it’s his turn to be his own guy.”
Rated the No. 35 player in the 2023 class, Simeon will have no shortage of options for his next school. He’s already scheduled an official visit to St. John’s on Thursday.”
