Sallis to Wake

Just got some new information regarding Gonzaga transfer and former Millard North standout Hunter Sallis.

As expected, Sallis is done taking visits, and a decision should be coming by the end of the week.

The bad news is I expect Wake Forest to be the pick.

The immediate question now is, who's next on the list for the Huskers?

I still haven't heard any specific names yet. I think a lot of that was because NU was waiting for Sallis' decision before fully pursuing another lead guard. But word on potential new targets should come soon, and there's a small chance that there could be another visitor as early as this weekend.

I also wouldn't rule out there being a target or who isn't even in the portal yet.

It's unfortunate because Sallis is a local kid and would have been a great fit for what Nebraska needed. But I don't think it's time to panic yet. Like I said, there are plenty of other options out there for NU to end up with a really good player.

I'll keep working on finding out who the next choices might be.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets buried on the bench at Wake as well. So far, Sallis has been mostly a bust outside of his defense. Time will tell, but his jump shot is busted. Sure, I wish NU had landed him, as I think NU would be a better fit to showcase his skills.

Thought he'd be a nice defensive stopper for us, but yeah offense is TBD.

too much fuss over Sallis, he was at one point supposed to be the next high lottery point guard in the mold of Russell Westbrook but the only resemblance so far is that neither can shoot.

Would have been nice to add him but mainly because he was a highly rated local kid. His offensive game needs work but no doubting his defensive prowess. If not getting him allows us to sign a solid portal PG & Post plus 6-7 SG/SF Duncan then I am fine with it.

Holy shit, RSS is nuts. Now that Sallis is gone everyone has convinced themselves that it’s not a big loss. I truly believe that if Sallis has the chance to score more unlike he had at Gonzaga, he will succeed.

Let’s keep getting mid majors instead of local 5 star athletes who played at Gonzaga.

I will admit that I would have liked to see if Sallis could attack the rim with a lot of success in the 5 out offense, but it's also not a guarantee he can actually do it

I find it funny that people see stats from a freshman or sophomore campaign say that’s what the guy is.

Nebraska basketball has had multiple transfers prove there’s more to it than that. James Palmer, Pettaway, etc etc.

No way somebody can feel definitive on a judgement on Sallis right now.

I think Turd knows it, but also knows that he lit X million dollars on fire to fire Frost two weeks earlier and that money doesn't grow on trees even if we talk about big ten tv money like it is unlimited

Of course anything could happen but he was expected to make a big jump this year and he didn’t.

Again, I would’ve loved to have him as beggars can’t be choosers but If I had to bet a months salary that Sallis would average 17 for us next year, I would bet the under in a heart beat. He could’ve been a good defensive, solid player but we just haven’t seen that yet.
