I’m going to be that guy but I’ll preface it by saying I really hope Fred works out. It really would just be an easy long term coach for us if he could succeed.

The reality is that there has to be a better coach out there right now who could do it at Nebraska. The lack of motivation at the beginning of games while knowing what’s at stake is concerning. The fans don’t deserve this. We continue to pack the arena and probably still will with no post season hopes against Cockeye.

About time someone in the media said it. Yesterday’s game was just sad but for some reason people will still think Fred is the guy.

LOL...Sipple. Fuck that guy—he’s a spineless piece of shit if there ever was one. He lost all credibility as a journalist when he refused to criticize Frost at any point during his disastrous tenure and made excuse after excuse.

As frustrating as NU basketball and Fred have been at times, Fred has still accomplished more than Frost ever did—and just as much, if not more, than any NU basketball coach in the past 30 years. Still, no excuse for that game yesterday.

But hey, go ahead, Sipple—keep being that "tough journalist" you claim to be. Really bold of you to set lofty expectations for the worst program in the history of college basketball. Bravo.

Just wondering what Fred has done that Tim Miles didn’t? A 3rd place finish instead of a 4th? Let’s stop acting like he has done an awesome job.

What's the disagreement with Sipple on this issue though? IIRC his take has always been that Nebraska MBB HC is the greatest HC job in the country: you get to make $4m/yr, get great fan support, great facilities...and yet you have no expectations or pressure on you to actually achieve anything. Or even be better than your peers.

I actually agree with him on that. It's a great HC gig if you're not motivated to achieve anything.

I will say though, I am part of the problem. I too have zero expectations on MBB and I don't want to see us trading out HCs every 3 yrs (and paying the buyouts).

I like Fred. He'll get us a NCAA tourney win. I still believe that.

My one complaint is his teams are like MTV Real World casts. Sometimes you get one that works well together. But every 3rd season the group does not fit and ends up hating each other by mid-season.

This team is like the worst Real World cast. It's pretty obvious they have no chemistry and it honestly looks like they hate each other and want the season to end. There is so little celebrating that goes on with this team. I literally have never seen anything like it. NIL partially to blame too of course.

I'm actually to the point where I hate watching this group. They hate being out there, why would I want to watch them.

It’s not that I disagree with Sipple’s point—I just find it incredibly annoying how he pushes this kind of take on men’s basketball, yet when it came to football under Frost, all we got from him and his so-called outfit were endless excuses and propaganda insisting everything was fine. The double standard is beyond frustrating. That’s why I can’t stand anything that comes from him or Dean and their so-called journalism site.

I guess seeing a Sipple take forwarded and retweeted by John Bishop of all people kind of set me off. A Pickle Smoochers annoying homer and Frost apologist is the last thing I want to see while I’m still reeling from yesterday’s game. Lol.

I don’t disagree with you. Miles made the tournament in his second year and should have made it again in 2017-18. Fred got them there last year and still has a shot this season—although losing three straight home games has been a brutal way to piss away a golden opportunity.

Making the NCAA Tournament is no small feat for NU Basketball, and I’m willing to give Fred some leeway for accomplishing that. I’m not banking on it, but there’s still a slim chance he pulls it off this year. If he doesn’t, things could get very interesting next year if NU continues to struggle.

I could care less how Miles is doing now but claiming Fred has done things no other coach at NU has done isn’t true. I guess pointing that out ruffles your feathers too much.
