This was posted by Washut about an hour ago in response to someone asking for target names:

"It’s pretty clear the others Hoiberg is visitare:

Connor Hickman, Bradley
Pharrel Payne, Minnesota
Joshua Ola-Joseph, Minnesota
Dain Dainja

I don’t expect any additions until after the dead period (April 4-11), but things can obviously change very quickly in portal recruiting."
Wonder who they are going after the hardest on this list? I like that Payne & Dainja are each 6-9 or taller plus 255 or more in weight. Give us some muscle in the paint. Neither seems to be a replacement for Mast's outside shooting or Point Center skills though. Gotta believe Hickman would go to Indiana if given the opportunity as he grew up in Bloomington so odds are a Hoosiers fan. Ola-Joseph started out averaging 20+ minutes/game but the last 10 games only saw double figure minutes once. Only got 3 minutes in their NIT game. Looks like a heck of an athlete plus decent 3 pt shooter.

1000% asking 16-18 years to make a decision that has so much impact on their future should have some forgiveness but allowing kids to just always jump ship year after year is getting a bit ridiculous. I understand when they have coaching changes or when things don’t pan out the first go around but have kids in school for 7 years at 5 different schools has to change.
Once the portal came around I was hoping the NCAA would put a limit on it. Let them transfer once without sitting out a season. Could also drop sitting out a season for a 2nd transfer if there was a coaching change. Some of these kids are just going to bounce around from school to school throughout their college careers.

And from an academic side this could hinder them from graduating as all of their credits might not transfer.

NCAA has no control after those players sued to be eligible a second time. Sure they chose not to fight it in court but I don't think the chances of winning were high.

From a Pickle Smoochers homer on On3, re: Diop -

Huge issue, and why we shouldn’t have extended Fred without a second good season. This guy was one of the most promising players we have brought in over the last 20 years. He was a developmental prospect and we developed him to bolt. I expect he’ll be all conference somewhere in the next 2 years.

HUGE LOSS

He is the anti-Mast. He is far from polished but an elite athlete at 6’9” that we haven’t seen since Hamilton romed the interior for us.

He was taken as a project, and we knew he would take time to develop. This was the most important long term piece we had. We keep flushing our bigs instead of developing them. You want the biggest reason that Pickle Smoochers is Pickle Smoochers and Nebraska is Nebraska…. This is it.

This is certainly a take…. Yikes

I got no issue moving on from Diop if you’re recruiting over him.

Like I wish they would have a stronger pipeline of HS to contributor but Diop was a very late flyer. Maybe he could become something in a few years but with 4000 players in the portal the path has to be obvious to be retained

I disagree with the player comps but I don't disagree with the idea.

Pickle Smooochers suck don't get me wrong but I wouldn't mind seeing a guy get developed. I had hopes for both Diop and Blaize. Now with Keita the ankle was a huge issue obviously.

As far as Diop, he could become a great player but that was no certainty. I think as a viewer of basketball his explosiveness jumped off the charts right? So fun to watch him jump for a block or rebound or the ease he dunks with. What jumped out to me most was if he could learn the flow of the game. He'll need to better understand how to match the speed of the game, if he does he'll be awesome. That could come with playing time, thought it would be here but I will root for him wherever he goes.

That dipshit thinks he's smarter than everyone else, but he's dumber than fucking dirt.

Perfect Pickle Smoochers fan.

Scheierman - portal
Ashworth - portal
Farabello - portal

Pickle Smoochers had 6 guys average 20+ minutes/game. 3 of the 6, listed above, came from the portal. The next most? Traudt, at 9 mpg, another portal.

Fuck off, asshole.
The other 3 were 4 star recruits and played a lot as freshmen then started as sophomores. Saying they are developing guys nonstop isn’t true. They were good players when they got on campus.

Taking a kid and developing him for 2-3 years down the line is gone in college basketball. Anyone who doesn’t get playing time year one will transfer to a smaller school with hopes of playing and putting up stats for a year or two to re-enter the portal. Mid-majors are now the schools developing these kids for the large schools.

Power 5 and coaches don’t have time to develop players anymore.
If you can’t produce quickly it’s churn and burn
