Jorja on3 re Key:

*** As for Key, there are some common threads. Again, there’s significant buzz around Key that suggests that NIL is not the main focus. He’s going to command a pretty hefty deal no matter where he goes but this is another guy who, on the front end, is emphasizing fit, development, and looking for a chance to win.

I’m one who believes that everybody has a number, so I know that if either of these recruitments gets big enough, all bets are off. With that said, Georgia has positioned itself really well with Key. Nebraska is expected to take a giant swing and the Cornhuskers actually have the returning-quarterback angle to sell. They also have his former wide receivers coach on staff and enjoy that connection advantage. But just like with the Branch Brothers, I don’t like anyone’s standing here better than the Bulldogs right now. Just not quite ready to say I’d pick UGA for either one. Based on how we’ve seen things go in the portal and NIL age, things could be changing one way or another as I type this.

Latest intel as Nebraska battling for two more coveted Transfer Portal targets

Nebraska has been busy in the Transfer Portal as head coach Matt Rhule and this second-year coaching staff aim to take another big jump in year three after getting the team bowl eligible for the first time in seven years this campaign.

The big addition to date has been the On3 Industry’s No. 1 ranked edge in the Transfer Portal in Williams Nwaneri. The No. 8 prospect overall heads to Lincoln by way of Missouri.

The No. 12 receiver in the portal in Nyziah Hunter was another big addition as the offense aims to get more dynamic. He had 40 receptions for 578 yards and five touchdowns for Cal this fall.

The No. 12 safety in the portal in former Oklahoma player Dasan McCullough committed over the weekend. Over the first three seasons of McCullough’s career he has registered 95 tackles including four sacks and six passes defended. He has a skillset to be a factor in all three levels of the defense.

Purdue transfer quarterback Marcos Davila is a strong-armed passer that will add depth to that room behind Dylan Raiola. Defensive linemen Gabe Moore and Jaylen George are two more point of attack additions.

Rhule and company are looking for two more big additions.

Former Kentucky receiver Dane Key is the No. 9 overall player in the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings. He has visited Lincoln and the Huskers are right there battling Georgia and Ole Miss among others for the former Wildcat. In three seasons with Kentucky, Key totaled 126 receptions for 1,870 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Nebraska also hosted a coveted defensive back in Andrew Marshall out of Idaho. Senior Director of Player Personnel Vincent Guinta has been leading the charge for the Huskers in recruiting Marshall who also visited Miami. Marshall has 66 tackles over the last two seasons to go along with eight pass breakups and a forced fumble.

Marshall is also a big threat in the return game running back a kick and punt for a touchdown during the fall.

Nebraska would love to add Key and Marshall and they’re in the thick of it to do so.

Dean:

This was passed on to me this morning from our KSR site. Ryan Lemond is Dane Key's godfather and co-host of the KSR radio show with Matt Jones.

He hinted on the radio that Dane Key news is coming today. He said it’s down to Georgia, Illinois, and Nebraska.

Lemond said Illinois remains in the running because the WR coach was the same one at South Carolina when Carolina recruited him. Nebraska’s draw is quarterback play and facilities. Dane's girlfriend evidently attends Georgia.

Pussy is undefeated. Georgia it is.
